Get in [edit]

There are a few flights to Bhamo from Mandalay and/or Yangon, as well as Myitkyina.

Several vans connect Myitkyina to Bhamo. For more comfort there is a bus departing Myitkyina at 8am. It takes around 6 to 7 hours and the ticket is 12000 kyats (as of Dec 2010).

Boats to and from Mandalay take between 1 and 3 days, depending on the boat and the season (faster during the wet season when water levels are high). A ticket for a shared cabin (two beds) is 27 US$ (as of Dec 2010). You can choose to sleep on the deck, which is much cheaper. Fast boats to Katha take around half a day.

Get around [edit]

Bhamo is small enough to walk around. To get to the ferry terminal you'll probably have to take a taxi (around 2000k per person).
