Durant is in the Chickasaw Country region of Oklahoma. Teddy and Eleanor Roosevelt once spoke here, even though it was a sundown town. It gained impetus through the railroad and eventually became a major commerce area for the Choctaw Tribe, with their casino and other investments.

  • Three Valley Museum, 401 W Main St (Highway 69/75), +1 580-920-1907. Tu-F 1PM-5PM. Some little things like a horse and buggy and a tractor for peanut farming.
  • World's Largest Peanut Monument, 201 N 3rd Ave, disputed biggest-sized peanut statue, to pay respect to the lowly peanut farmer.

The Choctaw Casino Resort is definitely a principal place of lodging here, with its hotel tower and irregularly shaped pool surrounded by caves and bridges, its dining options and gaming.
