Summary
Description"The Future Lived on Washington Highway", Amherst, New York - 20200421.jpg
English: Built in 1936 and touted as a "home of the future" in the pages of the Buffalo Evening News and other local media of the time, the house at 55 Washington Highway, Amherst, New York is a quite early example of the International Style, and a quite rare example of residential architecture in Western New York in that style. Its flat steel panel walls remain mostly stark and unadorned, as when it was built, save for a little wrought-iron filigree on the south end of its façade.
