Kottakkal is in Malappuram District, in the Malabar region, in Kerala, India.

Kottakkal became famous because the world famous Herbal Medicine Research Centre known as 'Arya Vaidya Shala' is situated here. This hospital is frequented by heads of states and business barons of many countries.

  • Kunhali Marakkar Memorial. This memorial was erected by the Indian Navy to commemorate the resistance of the Kunhali Marakkars to foreign invasion of Malabar in the 16th century.
