Phon Phisai (โพนพิสัย) is a village in Isaan, Thailand. It is close to Nong Khai.

Get in[edit]

Buses leave regularly for Phon Phisai from the Nong Khai bus terminal, as well as other nearby cities throughout the Isaan region.

Get around[edit]

Phon Phisai village is small, so it is easy to walk across town. Tuk-tuks can also be found, usually idling near the bus depot.

On the last day of Buddhist lent, usually around October, Phon Phisai is a great spot to watch the Mekong fireballs. These strange fiery balls of unknown origin attract large crowds of visitors each year.

Buses leave daily for Bangkok, as well as other popular destinations in Thailand or take a 40 minute bus ride west to Nong Khai and cross the Friendship Bridge over to Laos.
