Talk:Fürth

The title is spelt incorrectly. I should be Fuerth

Actually according to Wikivoyage naming standards it should be Furth, and I've moved it there with redirects in place -- compare Zurich. (WT-en) Jpatokal 23:21, 27 Dec 2004 (EST)
Unfortunately I could not find the rule that German umlauts should be replaced by a, o, u anywhere on Wikivoyage. The standard transcription is ae, oe, ue. Using a, o, u can easily lead to misunderstandings. Furth for example is the German name of a town (and tourist destination) in the Bavarian Forest. Zurich is, in my eyes, an exception, since Zurich is the usual English name for Zuerich. (Try typing Zurich into Google, you will get hundreds of refernces to Zuerich. If you type Furth you will get references to Furth, but not to Fuerth). So my question: Is this really a policy? Where is it documented? (WT-en) Miknon 10:18, 9 Jan 2005 (EST)

Moved page. Fuerth is the most common used English form and the correct transcription. (WT-en) Miknon 15:07, 16 Jan 2005 (EST)

See Project:Article_naming_conventions#Non-alphabetic_characters and Project:Foreign-language names. Note that personally, I am of the opinion that the article name should be Fürth. (WT-en) Jpatokal 00:29, 17 Jan 2005 (EST)
I agree with moving to Fürth, with redirects from Furth and Fuerth of course. Zurich/Zürich is different in that Zurich is an accepted English version of the town, whereas Fürth, as far as I am aware, has no accepted/common English name. (WT-en) Brendio 17:14, 16 Jan 2006 (EST)
The better pointer is to Project:Article naming conventions#Romanization, which puts latin chars with diacritics, like ü, explicitly into play.
Webster's and TGN both prefer Fürth. I realize that "ue" is a preferred transliteration when ü is not available, but it is, so there's not much reason to use them. I don't think we're in the same situation as the city's Web site (http://www.fuerth.de/), since DNS only allows US-ASCII chars (unless you're using something cool like Punycode). The upshot: I think Fürth is the most common English name, it's doable, so moving this was the right thing to do. --(WT-en) Evan 23:21, 16 Jan 2006 (EST)

Visit Toni Bechtold's house for some smooth jazz[edit]

Can only find references with copies of this wiiki site. Can someone confirm this as a destination people can visit? --Traveler100 (talk) 10:46, 25 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Toni Bechtold is a jazz musician who plays in several jazz bands and won a cultural price in Fürth in 2010. But Alexanderstr.30 is domicile of Caritas Fürth, a catholic welfare organiation. There is no pub or concert room or something else.I also can´t find any connection. Next time when I'm in my hometown I'll try to find out.ManfredV (talk) 16:29, 4 August 2016 (UTC) There's another source that says the house was sold, modernized and used for comfort freehold flats. But no Fürth source can be found about "smoothe jazz concerts" there.ManfredV (talk) 18:13, 4 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Today I was in Fürth and looked for this place. It is a house with flats. There is no reference (sign, doorbell panel or something else) that a Toni Bechtold lives there and of course there's no jazz club, pub etc. ManfredV (talk) 22:04, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I hope the listing in question has been removed. Hobbitschuster (talk) 13:20, 26 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

U-Bahn stations[edit]

Other than the two listed ones (which are indeed pretty central) there are also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stadthalle_(Nuremberg_U-Bahn) , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klinikum_(Nuremberg_U-Bahn) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardh%C3%B6he_(Nuremberg_U-Bahn) , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jakobinenstra%C3%9Fe_(Nuremberg_U-Bahn) and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stadtgrenze_(Nuremberg_U-Bahn) (literally "city border" that is, the border between Nuremberg and Fürth). Which of those should get a listing or marker of any kind? Hobbitschuster (talk) 23:01, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
