Talk:Antalya

I just came from antalya, I stayed in Adonis Hotel, the Hotel was awful, no service no bed covers the bathroom does not work, and the AC is dripping all the time, and they would threaten u if they see u with even a bottle of water from outside the hotel, all of this and it claims to be five stars, u will be fooled by the receiption but the rooms are awful.. Antalay is very hot these days but there is a lot to c, I would visit it in winter next time cause I'm not a big fan of burning under the sun

Afraid to y but this talk of being 'the best you can find in the Mediterranean' is highly overrated. Antalya might have been a pearl until 20 years ago but these days it is a sprawling concrete jungle home to around 1 million of humans and it's still growing unabated with all the fumes and traffic jams that this means. The location is fantastic though and the sights splendid. The Mediterranean is a large geographic feature and there are quite a few places that are much more appealing (even if it this a matter of taste). Don't say that to the very patriotic locals as you will likely offend them.

Is the Turkish word for airport WV:Obvious?[edit]

Per this edit, can we assume that the average Antalya visitor already knows the Turkish word for airport? In no small sense knowing this word can be quite important when one is to hail a taxi or to find out which tram line to take... Hobbitschuster (talk) 15:30, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's not obvious, but the word would belong in the Turkish phrasebook. --Ypsilon (talk) 15:35, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oh well, if the correspondent listing for my hometown read "Brasília International Airport (Aeroporto Internacional de Brasília) - Take bus X from the Aeroporto (Airport)..." , I'd sure edit the Portuguese bits out and leave English only for the benefit of the traveller reading a travel guide in English. As of this moment I'm positively curious whether Hobbitschuster in German or Ypsilon in Finnish would act likewise or not. Ibaman (talk) 15:39, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
"Aeroporto" obviously means "airport", even to an English monolingual. "Havalimanlı" might as well mean chicken and chips to a non-Turkish speaker, so I don't think it does any harm to include it in this article, as well as in the phrasebook. In the same vein, it doesn't do any harm, and possibly does a small amount of good, to include "Flughafen" in the Frankfurt Airport article.---ThunderingTyphoons! Yes, but it'd be better write out the name of the particular airport in full (Antalya Havalimanı) in the destination article. Plus, the word for airport should be in the Turkish phrasebook (unfortunately it dodesn't seem to be there there, eventhough it's part of the standard phrasebook template). --Ypsilon (talk) 15:55, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm always in favor of brevity and chopping off the unnecessary words. I'm with Y on this, let's then have the proper Turkish name "Antalya Havalimanı" instead of a generic loose word floating carelessly inside the listing. Ibaman (talk) 15:59, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, and unfortunately there are no complete "Where is the..." or "Take me to the..." sentences either, so no model to follow.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 16:01, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with everyone that the word for airport should be in the phrasebook and the phrase "Antalya Havalimanı" should be given as the alternate name. Ikan Kekek (talk) 11:13, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Teşekkur ederim, but this was resolved months ago.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 11:33, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Get In: Terminal 1 and 2[edit]

The content about Terminal 1 and 2 and the way between each other is in the Get In section two times. Partly dublicative and contradictory.

Has somebody current knowledge about the terminals and can fix it?
