Needs update to reflect improved, even adequate reduction of risk[edit]

The coalition and the Iraqi government are now officially sanctioning tourist entry and travel around Iraq.

The article needs updating. Iraq is no longer "strictly NO go". Some people want to keep the impression of an insurgency going of course, but in fact, put simply, we being the coalition: we won. --90.218.44.39 11:54, 21 March 2009 (EDT)

There's nothing in the cited source to describe this as "adequate reduction of risk". It would be possible to note that a tour was *possible* in 2009 and offered commercially (although this doesn't tell us whether this effort continued, was a brief flash in the pan, abandoned, met with disaster, or whatever else became of it - that needs to be followed up) and it would be a good idea to note the issue raised in the article that no travel medical insurer was eagerly willing to insure travellers to Iraq... so you're on your own in that regard. Alternative banner for this article?[edit]

In the Hebrew Wikivoyage we are currently using this banner instead of the one which is currently used here. Do you think too that this banner would would better than the existing one? ויקיג'אנקי (talk) 06:53, 23 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. I don't like the tops of the row of buildings near the end of the bridge being cut off, but it's better than the hazy and quite nondescript banner now on the page. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:57, 23 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Warning box[edit]

I have reverted edits which have removed the warning box a couple of times. The original warning was a bit excessive, so I updated that. Other opinions? The editor who removed the warning is anonymous. Can an IP be blocked if necessary? Davidbstanley (talk) 15:31, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it is indeed possible to block IP users. Is this user engaging in edit warring? Did you post to the IP user's user talk page to request a stop to these kinds of undiscussed edits? Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:55, 25 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It is too early to call it an edit war. They edited the Iraq and Baghdad pages a couple of times and the edit have been undone by another user and myself. I have not posted any warning. I had assumed it was not possible to do that for an IP. I will do so if they delete the warnings again. Davidbstanley (talk) 07:55, 26 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

We don't have a name in the caption for the mosque completed in 1973. Is it important enough to keep in spite of the lack of freedom of panorama in Iraq? Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:51, 7 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
