Type - city vs. district[edit]

How does it matter? Any technicality would go awry if we categorize it as city? PrinceGloria (talk) 07:27, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't been to Bremerhaven, but my girlfriend did go there, and it was pretty far from Bremen, according to her, and took about an hour on a train to get from one to the other. I don't take a position on whether it's important for them to be listed as different cities, but the distance and travel time should be noted. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:34, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
My question pertains to User:Traveler100 tagging it as "usabledistrict" rather than "usablecity". Your comments about the real-life situation are 100% right, but I guess he had other concerns. PrinceGloria (talk) 14:01, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Why did a bizarre arrangement that only made a moderate amount of sense in the feudal era when it was first invented have to survive to the modern day where it confuses everybody to no end? Anyway, what are the actual concrete differences whether we call it a district or a city? Hobbitschuster (talk) 14:09, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
My thinking was that we do occasional make bot edits based on type of article and where it is in the structure. I initially thought that if there is an article under a city then it must be a district, which actually means this article should be renamed Bremen/Bremerhaven (as in Berlin/Mitte). Yes even more ridiculous. But then I realised there are deviations from that rule. For example Manhattan is a city in New York City which is also a city. So I guess we can do the same here. --Traveler100 (talk) 18:37, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I hope that does it and saves this rather peculiar problem once and for all. I hope we can now focus on contributing to the content of the article (which I unfortunately can't having never been to either Bremen or Bremerhaven) Hobbitschuster (talk) 18:53, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You absolutely can - most of my edits are because I am about to visit a destination, and the most of them to destinations I have not been to, as I am doing my research before my travels and put the results in WV. If anything proves untrue, I get the benefit of others correcting me, or correct once on location/back. And I mostly find what I wrote to be quite right. Hierarchy explanation[edit]

Although Bremerhaven is administratively in Bremen (state) (a redirect page as only could have 2 city articles), it is geographically surrounded by the state of Lower Saxony and a good distance from the city of Bremen. It make more sense to reflect how a traveller in the area would see its location, and make it a city article in the region of Elbe-Weser Triangle rather than under the city article of Bremen. --Traveler100 (talk) 08:45, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Couple of new banner images from Wiki Loves Monuments. 201 looks a bit nicer, but it is probably less appropriate than the current one. --Alexander (talk) 23:24, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
