This article used the term "Macharonesy." Google didn't turn up a single page - is this an actual term for the islands? (WT-en) Rhobite 17:07, 15 Nov 2003 (PST)

The correct spelling is Macaronesia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macaronesia

Categorize with Spain?[edit]

Since the islands are an integrated province of Spain, and Schengen rules and Spanish laws apply, they should be categorized under Spain. /Yvwv (talk) 23:49, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I would think that would serve the traveler best, but let's see whether anyone has a reason for opposing this. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:26, 17 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New banner candidate[edit]

Current former banner
Candidate 1 (current as of March 2022)
Candidate 2

In my opinion, the current banner is uninviting. Here are two new candidates. They could be considered for Fuerteventura as well. /Yvwv (talk) 14:50, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I prefer banner 2, 0. I am not a fan of 1 because of the unappealing colour of the mountains. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 06:40, 18 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Among these 3, I would also prefer Candidate 2. Candidate 1 (currently in use) has a white beach, which is not something you'd normally find there (apart from the couple of artificial ones).
A perfect banner for the canaries would in my opinion need the following: The sky of Candidate 1, colorful volcanic rocks and associated vegetation (Opuntia, Echium, depending on elevation) in the foreground, mountain peaks in the background. Some ocean and/or laurel forest would be great. At least the more mountainous islands are very divers in terms of landscapes, climate and vegetation. It would be great if that could somehow be reflected in the banner. --El Grafo (talk) 09:46, 18 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
