User:FreeAtLast, please note that I've moved your question to the Tourist Office where it's more visible. ϒpsilon (talk) 16:52, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That's probably not a good practice in general. You could perhaps leave a pointer there to this discussion, but simply moving a specific discussion to a centralized area makes things harder to find both now and in the future. That's why we don't sweep to the Pub; we sweep out of the Pub. Powers (talk) 18:04, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Now I've changed the link. ϒpsilon (talk) 18:27, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That's an improvement, but it will only work until the tourist office is archived. I could be wrong, but I think the Tourist Office is intended for people who aren't sure where to go with their question. That's why the first suggestion on Wikivoyage:What is a docent?#What can I do if my destination has no docent? is to go to the talk page, only mentioning the Tourist Office second. Well, FreeAtLast asked a question about an urgent personal matter that only tangentially had to do with French Guiana (please have a look at that question if you haven't yet). A friend of his/hers had for one reason or another to get out of the Dominican Republic as fast as possible and wanted to go to either Chile, Brazil or French Guiana. Actually it was User:Vidimian who suggested the question to be asked in the Tourist Office instead. Aren't talk pages for articles meant for discussing the content and the layout of the particular article now that we have the Tourist Office for specific questions like this one. I don't believe the Tourist Office has changed our practices regarding how to use talk pages. I don't want to give the impression this was a grievous error; just that it might be better in the future to keep such questions on a relevant talk page rather than the Tourist Office.
