Clerical Error?[edit]

Can someone verify the "Understand" section about the "clerical error" in the part about Fukui's name?? I call BS on it. The name comes from a well which is located in the middle of Fukui castle.

Removed following due to lack of source[edit]

Although the characters for Fukui means "lucky well" (福 = lucky or fortunate 井 = well - ie. water hole), the name of the prefecture is the result of a clerical error when the city was first incorporated several hundred years ago. The name was originally meant to be 福居, pronounced the same, but meaning "luck resides here."

Restored it, with a bit of a rewrite. The alternate spelling 福居 is common in historical sources. (WT-en) Jpatokal 08:17, 7 April 2009 (EDT)

See[edit]

The See section right now is a listing very similar to the Cities and Other destinations sections. Duplicate listings, meh. What is the best way to fix this? I'm thinking that most entries in See can be merged up, and a paragraph could summarize the general nature of the sites (i.e., beaches, temples, mountains). -Douglaspperkins (talk) 01:47, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The sites in the See section come from the sites in the listings. It is not considered a "duplicate listing" for a prefecture's See section to talk about sites within the prefecture, which will all obviously be mentioned in the cities/towns in which they are located. Most of the current city listings do not even mention the sites listed in the See section. You can write a paragraph if you want, but whether it's a paragraph or bullets, it won't be useful without mentioning the sites. ChubbyWimbus (talk) 14:03, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
