Discussion[edit]

Sorry to tell, but WikiTravel is rather not publishing personal stories or comments, please take a look at Goals and non-goals. That's how WikiTravel works... -- (WT-en) JanSlupski 07:26, 8 Feb 2005 (EST)

If you finally decide to plunge forward and create around the World journey article according to Goals and non-goals (and Manual of style), consider to linking it from List of itineraries instead of Main Page.
Let somebody else decide if the article should be exposed on front page. -- (WT-en) JanSlupski 07:43, 8 Feb 2005 (EST)

Vfd Discussion[edit]

  • Hitchhiking around the World. Personal, not-goal. -- (WT-en) JanSlupski 07:51, 8 Feb 2005 (EST)

    • No - rewrite the article to discuss the concept of hitchhiking around the world - how far you can get etc. -- (WT-en) Huttite 04:12, 11 Feb 2005 (EST)
    • Rewrite. (WT-en) Guaka 20:10, 7 May 2005 (EDT)
    • Rewrite -- would be a fascinating topic to read, if we can find contributors who've actually done it and can add useful commentary. The number of people with the balls and endurance to acutally "hitchhike around the world" are few indeed. (WT-en) SONORAMA 09:45, 16 September 2007 (EDT)

Merge it?[edit]

Round the world overland is another fairly short article. Methinks material here should be moved there. (WT-en) Pashley 06:30, 28 May 2006 (EDT)

Agreed. - (WT-en) Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 06:33, 28 May 2006 (EDT)
Agreed. Either make hitchhiking a subsection of that page, or make "around the world" a subsection of Tips for hitchhiking. -- (WT-en) Padraic 11:18, 16 February 2007 (EST)
Don't agree. Hitchhiking around the world is a freeform adventure quite different from other means of overland travel, such as luxury trains or tours with a set schedule. Both modes of transportation definetly merit their own article. Right now, both articles are woefully inadequate. I agree with Padraic that "round the world hitchkiking" could be made a subsection on the main hitchhking article for the time being. Hopefully someone with actual experience hitchhiking or overland travelling make their contributions in the near future.
When we already have Tips for hitchhiking, I wonder if this article should be merged.(WT-en) Jusjih 11:41, 28 January 2011 (EST)

Do we need this article?[edit]

I realize this has been discussed in the past, but I want to bring it up again. It seems to me that most of the information in this article would be appropriate at Hitchhiking, and the last paragraph would fit well at Around the world overland. Is it useful to keep this as a separate article, or should we move the content to those two? —Granger (talk · contribs) 12:06, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Since the scope of Hitchhiking is obviously global, I don't understand why this article is needed and would support a merge, however it is best to do it. Ikan Kekek (talk) 12:14, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Done. —Granger (talk · contribs) 01:09, 6 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
