At 207,000 pop. Irvine is bigger than a small city, though compared to others in California this is relative. I understand that London and other great cities of the world could only support populations of 50,000 or so until motorised/mass transport and infrastructural developments resolved issues with food and energy supply and (animal) waste disposal. -- (WT-en) Huttite 21:37, 21 Jan 2005 (EST)
