New Orleanese[edit]
How to pronounce place names and other local names (e.g., Creole dishes, the Ramos Gin Fizz, etc.) in New Orleans is a common question in travel forums, since the pronunciations here are all such interesting interpretations of French. Our wiki format might be ideal for creating a more comprehensive list than found in TripAdvisor forum threads. Any opinions on whether a travel topic on New Orleanese would be worth creating? - I got it started. There are plenty more weird ones, most of which I haven't yet figured out! If others can think of more that need clarifying, please add them to the list, or mention them here and I'll ask someone. If spinning it out to a travel topic, I think it might be worth splitting the list into categories: places, streets, culinary, etc. --Peter Talk 23:28, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
