Comments[edit]

Is there any appetite to have a section that lists some of the best running paths in the world? I'm thinking of routes that are unique in some way and combine most people's concept of travel with a good run. For example, some city routes that might fit the bill:

  • Stanley Park in Vancouver
  • Central Park in NYC
  • Clarke Quay in Singapore
  • Thames trail in London (not the trail where you run around in circles through Hyde Park)

I'd add the section myself but the only place that I have run is Stanley Park. (WT-en) Johnycanal 10:02, 05 July 2006 (PST)

Kowloon[edit]

Actually the new seaside promenade with the Walk of Stars etc makes for a very nice stroll in the evening. I'm not sure you can actually jog on it all that well though... (WT-en) Jpatokal 01:15, 8 August 2006 (EDT)

I was thinking of that as well. I had a chance to walk it in late April and thought it would be a ideal place for "worldly" kind of jog. The only thing is that it didn't seem quite long enough for a run as it is flanked on either side by pedestrian gridlock. Maybe someone else will chime in and update us. runningtours.net[edit]

From the description added to the article, it's a listing, rating and price comparison site, so mentioning and linking it is in violation of Wikivoyage:What not to link to. Should we make an exception for it? It does seem like a useful site to me. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:38, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Running crews[edit]

It would be worth listing running crews for each city, listing the days and where they meet. When I've gone travelling in the past, I've often contacted running crews, and they are very welcoming of tourists Whatisbetter (talk) 17:04, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My inclination is to say: Go ahead. But how many listings are we talking about? Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:33, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Most major cities have at least one running crew, though places like Berlin or London would have at least half a dozen. Alternatively, I could add a small section on meeting up with running crews whilst travelling and link to https://runningcrews.com/ Whatisbetter (talk) 18:45, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think such listings would be best placed in articles about each city, but I like your alternative suggestion of a short section with that link and the point that local crews are listed in city articles, if other Wikivoyagers agree that it's OK to list the same organization in multiple articles (possibly a violation of Wikivoyage:Don't tout, so wait for others to state their opinions). I am happy to add information about running crews to each city article, though where would it appear? Or should information relating to running be kept to the running article? Whatisbetter (talk) 19:06, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If a consensus supports adding listings in each city article, they would go in "Do". Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:34, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think we should only add information to city articles if editors know about the particular running crew, usually by having been on one of their runs. AlasdairW (talk) 21:04, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Did we reach a consensus on adding running crews to city articles? Whatisbetter (talk) 11:39, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Alasdair's comment, which value the practical experience for running crews. --Tmv (talk) 11:55, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
