Convent[edit]

Regarding this edit, is the monastery open to visitors? I don't see any indication of such on the Sisters' web site. Powers (talk) 20:09, 9 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Visitors are welcome to attend mass and pray with the Nuns in their Monastery Chapel. Tours are available, prior arrangements are appreciated. Retreats and Evenings of Recollection are scheduled throughout the year." In short: an interesting destination not only for Catholics. -- Joachim Mey2008 (talk) 05:32, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for finding that. Powers (talk) 14:17, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

St. Mary's Golf Club[edit]

This listing should be deleted. A private "members only" golf course is usually not a regular destination for tourists. A guest access is generally not offered. Other opinion? -- Joachim Mey2008 (talk) 05:53, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It was included primarily out of a desire for completeness. Since their website is down, I can't verify, but it seems likely I would have seen something there that led me to believe it was a viable option for non-members. Perhaps we should comment it out until their web site is back up. In its place, perhaps we could add Leaning Pines? Powers (talk) 14:17, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, Leaning Pines Public Golf Course is the successor of St. Mary's Golf Club on the same course [1]. -- Joachim Mey2008 (talk) 15:15, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Huh. Same phone number and everything. Well that explains St Mary's web site is down. Powers (talk) 16:43, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dynamic map[edit]

Unfortunately, I had to replace your beautiful static map by a more recent dynamic map. You're welcome to replace it again when the static map has been updated. For me personally, the effort of this is, however, too high. -- Grüße, Joachim Mey2008 (talk) 06:23, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That's stunningly rude. I can't believe you did this. I'm going to have to appeal to the larger community. Powers (talk) 00:21, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
At first blush, it does seem unnecessary to remove the static map (although I do appreciate you engineered a link in the footnotes of the dynamic map). May I trouble you to give your reasons please, Joachim? --118.93nzp (talk) 01:26, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The static map is out of date and does not match the article text. The golf course has a different name. The St. Josepf 's Convent, Bavarien Hills and West Wind were missing. McDonald's is located in the wrong place. In addition, missing almost all street names, also referred to in the interesting section "The Octagon". The reader can not imagine without a proper map. In addition, the map lacks useful entries for motorists. Public parking lots, gas station , repair shop. For pedestrians almost all street names are missing. - A second reason: LtPowers removed the parameter "thumb", which I had set again immediately [2]. This allowed the static map anyway no longer be used. Enlarging and printing were blocked by it. - Of course the static map can be inserted again, but before that they should be revised. - Joachim Mey2008 (talk) 06:08, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the very complete explanation, Joachim. {As an aside, that edit is almost a textbook example of why reverting (rather than editing or changing anything inappropriate or objectionable) can be both dangerous and inflammatory.}
Ltpowers comment to the revert: "coordinate overprecision, needless moving of grocery store listing, and removal of web address that could be reactivated at any time".
Everything was illogical in my opinion:
  • "Coordinate over precision" - an opinion but no law
  • "needless moving of grocery store listing" - I moved the {{buy! listed supermarket "Giant Eagle" from the "Eat" section to the "Buy" section because I thought that this would be some mistake.
  • "removal of web address that could be reactivated at any time" - these web addresses was already up for auction see above (Section St. Mary's Golf Club) or led to an not existing page. - For me, this was a completely unjustified revert. - Joachim Mey2008 (talk) 09:01, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

For the record, the monastery is closing soon, while the West Wind and Bavarian Hills are too far from the central business district to show on the map. Powers (talk) 01:30, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Historic Stone House[edit]

I found an "Historic Stone House" in OSM. On www I also found something [3]. Should be listed as a POI? The coordinates for the listing you get immediate and perfectly formatted when you click on the location on the dynamic map.- Grüße, Joachim Mey2008 (talk) 06:34, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
