Not sure where to put this, but in my opinion Yonaguni is definitely not ugly. Whoever wrote most of this page has obviously either never been there, or not seen the most beautiful parts of the island. Any island which can give you such photos as found on http://www5b.biglobe.ne.jp/~sunsun/ScenesA-21.htm (all images of yonaguni), http://www5b.biglobe.ne.jp/~sunsun/ScenesA-22.htm (first two images of yonaguni), http://www2r.biglobe.ne.jp/~rokumaru/okinawa/landscape/yonaguni/txt.cgi?j10 , http://www2r.biglobe.ne.jp/~rokumaru/okinawa/landscape/yonaguni/txt.cgi?j04 , http://www2r.biglobe.ne.jp/~rokumaru/okinawa/landscape/yonaguni/txt.cgi?j05 , http://www2r.biglobe.ne.jp/~rokumaru/okinawa/landscape/yonaguni/txt.cgi?j06 , http://www2r.biglobe.ne.jp/~rokumaru/okinawa/landscape/yonaguni/txt.cgi?j07 , http://www2r.biglobe.ne.jp/~rokumaru/okinawa/landscape/yonaguni/txt.cgi?j09 , etc. must be some sort of tropical island paradise, NOT some ugly craggy island. --(WT-en) Node ue 22:54, 8 Jun 2005 (EDT)

The article doesn't call Yonaguni, just "craggy" (mountaineous) and "rocky", which it is compared to Taketomi or Iriomote. And I most certainly have been there, the only problem is that it rained every day... (WT-en) Jpatokal 03:35, 9 Jun 2005 (EDT)
"It would be a stretch to call Yonaguni attractive" implies that you think it's ugly. In my opinion, that's simply not true. Sure, it's more mountainous and rocky than Taketomi and Iriomote, but it still has large, beautiful beaches. They may not be the main attraction, but they're also much much much less crowded than the beaches of the islands of Yaeyama because most people who come to the island are more interested in ruins, sharks, and "Japan's Westernmost Point" than taking in the beautiful sights the island has to offer. OK, so you've been to Yonaguni -- but did you /try/ to visit beaches, or did you not even check because you didn't realise they were there and they were uncrowded? --(WT-en) Node ue 20:30, 9 Jun 2005 (EDT)
Yeah, I went to Kubura's beach. You tell me how attractive it is: [1] [2]
And as said, the weather for my visit wasn't very beach-friendy. If you think beaches are a major attraction, then please edit the article and list the good ones! (WT-en) Jpatokal 21:04, 9 Jun 2005 (EDT)

Hey, thanks for the excellent additions! A few more places to dive/eat/sleep and I think this will be ready for Project:Destination of the Month candidates status. (WT-en) Jpatokal 23:10, 9 Jun 2005 (EDT)

Hey Jpatokal, congratulations on getting dear old Dunan nominated as destination of the month! I'm going to add some stuff to the Yonaguni language page, too. User:(WT-en) Heian-794 17:00, 29 Mar 2006 (JT)

Hello everyone, Does somebody know how I can order the Yonaguni dictionary avalaible at the Yonaguni Ethnographic Museum? I searched on Google, but found no informations on this dictionary other than these wikipedia pages. THanks.

[3] seems to give the impression that there's transportation of some sort between Hualien in Taiwan and Yonaguni. Maybe someone should dig up some more info on this?

Yonaguni is also the place where Dr Koto's Clinic has been shooted. It's a somewhat popular japanese drama, and it is apparently possible to visit the titular clinic for a fee (according to the japanese version of the wikipedia article), so maybe we could add it to the culture section.
