Thumrait (also spelled Thumrayt) is in Dhofar.

Thumrait was historically known as an important stop along the frankincense trading route. In modern times it is the site of Thumrait Air Base, and for travelers is a convenient rest stop.

Thumrait is located on Highway 31 connecting Salalah with Nizwa, about 90km north of Salalah.
