Hello!

Welcome to Wikivoyage. You can edit your preferences to change how the software works for you. Please take a second to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you're new to our wiki software, MediaWiki, look at the Wiki markup to get an idea of how to edit a page. If you need help, check out the help desk, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.-- (WT-en) Sapphire 13:24, 17 February 2007 (EST)

Sign[edit]

I realized you haven't been clued into signing your name. To do so simply type four tildes (~). So ~~~~ will produce something similar to this: -- (WT-en) Sapphire(Talk) • 18:00, 19 March 2007 (EDT)

--Thanx for the tip, but I have and don't really see where this one is coming from right now?! Could you please elaborate? {(WT-en) 3wisemen}

Hi 3wisemen. Wikivoyage doesn't generally have articles for beaches or lakes etc, but instead they are listed under the nearest center of population. See: Project:Bodies of water. However, according to the maps for Ko Pha Ngan, it appears that the swathe of buildings that surround the beaches are actually named after the beaches themselves. Therefore, in this case, we can use the names of the beaches as the article titles. Also as the beaches are separated by a headland, they can be designated as separate articles. The problem with using a slash in the title is that no one will type in XXXX/XXXX in the search box. Hope this solution is ok with you. (WT-en) WindHorse 07:56, 24 March 2007 (EDT)

--Hi WindHorse, Thanx for the quick reply and solution. You were also quick on the understanding of the beach situation on the island. I'll sort the beaches out later in separate entities. Thanx again {(WT-en) 3wisemen}

Jpatokal has suggested that we merge the two as "Ao Thong Nai Pan" as apparently that's what the maps call the area. What do you think? Is that a common name for the area that covers both the beaches? (WT-en) WindHorse 08:41, 24 March 2007 (EDT)
WindHorse, it does make sense, since it is considered one area. I can explain in the article about the specifics of getting to the two beaches etc, it's actually easier. So it's fine with me {(WT-en) 3wisemen 09:01, 24 March 2007 (EDT)}
OK. Let's do that. If you give me thirty minutes, I'll set it up. (WT-en) WindHorse 09:17, 24 March 2007 (EDT)
Thanx, WindHorse!Guess I'll have to fill this darn page with some quality info now ;-) {(WT-en) 3wisemen 09:21, 24 March 2007 (EDT)}

Report[edit]

Hi, I moved this from the logbook -- language reports now go on Shared, the "language neutral" site... Make a link from the wts:Liaison report page and add it there. Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks for the update! (WT-en) Maj 14:19, 15 May 2007 (EDT)

Mid May 2007: An update from the Nederlandstalige, (NL) site. First time I do this, just hope this is the right place for it.

After a little dip during last winter we have gained some new momentum.

Since Feb there are two new weirdo's active who became admins/sysops or whatever. Together they worked on the structure of the site. One was/is working on formats, provinces etc, the other (me) took care of a few project pages. You can now browse through the project-pages and see blue instead of red links and by clicking on them 95% of them are actually in Dutch. For a while these two clowns were the only ones contributing, but now you see more people showing up on a daily basis to share the knowledge they have. Articles aren't really big yet. When looking at the long pages list you'll see the following:

Article number 1 is 133.705 bytes (China)
Article number 50 is 6.460 bytes
Article number 100 is 3.313 bytes

New Users: Apr 2007 : 14
Mar 2007 : 10
Feb 2007 : 15
Jan 2007 : 16
Dec 2006 : 11

But already 11 in May and we're only half way

Future:

  • More formats, templates etc for easy writing of the articles
  • Get more travelers to write

Keep you posted. {(WT-en) 3wisemen}
