Thanks for your contributions, but please read our guidelines for hotel chains. Adding multiple listings that are not in compliance with Wikivoyage style guidelines generates a significant amount of work for other editors to clean up, so current policy is that marketers MUST format listings properly, meaning no first-person, no marketing language, a price range must be included, and the address must be properly formatted (do not include city, state, zip). The guideline linked previously contains additional information. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 11:35, 30 April 2010 (EDT)

Central New York[edit]

Hi, Abccreative. Please note that the way we divided New York (state) into sub-regions does not match the way the state tourism department divides it. Please do not try to change regions to match the state definition. Thanks! (WT-en) LtPowers 08:37, 21 July 2010 (EDT)

Hi, LtPowers. This is WikiTravel and therefore is all about tourism. The Central New York region of New York State for travel purposes is defined by the New York State Department of Tourism. I'm happy to share the state guidelines with you. The region should be listed correctly within this database to match the actual representation, otherwise this wiki is incorrect. Thanks! We've seen those regions and chosen not to use them. Please discuss any changes at Talk:New York (state) and try to gain consensus for a change before changing our regional structure. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 10:16, 3 August 2010 (EDT)
Please also note that continuing to re-add your region changes without discussion is edit warring, something that is highly discouraged here. Please please PLEASE take the time to read the region discussions on Talk:New York (state) and stop trying to change our hierarchy through brute force. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 10:45, 3 August 2010 (EDT)
Our goal is not to tell users what the state tourism regions are. That's the job of http://www.iloveny.com. Our job is to get users useful travel information, and we've made our own judgments about how the state is best divided into travel regions. We have our reasons for doing so; if you'd like to learn more, or to contribute to the discussion, Talk:New York (state) is the place to do it. (WT-en) LtPowers 15:53, 3 August 2010 (EDT)
