Disambiguation Naming[edit]

Normally we don't us the (disabmiguation), but use the base name as the disambiguator and all of the articles are dab'ed. For example Almont would be the disambiguation page and then we would have Almont (North Dakota) and Almont (Michigan). Please see Project:Article_naming_conventions#Disambiguation. Below is the standard welcome for Wikipedians, which might be of help. Thanks -- (WT-en) Tom Holland (xltel) 19:42, 9 October 2006 (EDT)

Welcome Wikipedian[edit]

Hello! Welcome to Wikivoyage. If you want to specialize your experience you may want to consider editing your preferences. Please take a second to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you're new to the whole wiki community look at the wiki markup to get an idea of how to use the wiki markup. If you need help, check out Project:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.

Please read Project:How to rename a page and Project:Article naming conventions#Disambiguation. Wahpeton should be moved to Wahpeton (North Dakota), and then the old Wahpeton page should be manually edited into a disambiguation page. The exception to this rule is when one place is "so much more famous" than another that a disambiguator like "(North Dakota)" would be silly.

To move a page you will obviously need to create a login, as numerous people have told you numerous times. If you are unwilling to do so it would be polite for you to at least explain why so that we can better understand how to work with you. Also, if you are unwilling to login it would probably be best if you limited your contributions to areas that do not require logged-in user status - your contributions are appreciated, but it we now have a lot of incorrect "(disambiguation)" pages that someone else will eventually need to clean up. -- (WT-en) Ryan 12:37, 10 January 2007 (EST)
