Hello! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you would like help with anything, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub or right here as a reply.

Since you are a Wikipedian, you will notice some differences in the style of our articles. These include:

  • "External links" → We do not use a separate external links section, but incorporate primary links only into the text itself.

Please pay special attention to the following:

The External links guidelines do not permit links from Wikivoyage articles in the Main namespace (travel articles) to Wikipedia articles (except in the "Related sites" menu), as they are not primary sources.

We also would strongly prefer that Wikipedia articles not be quoted verbatim, both because of differences in goals between an encyclopedia and a travel guide and out of concerns that excessive similarity will decrease the Google ranking of Wikivoyage articles. If it's important to do so, though, there are requirements for attribution, which you should follow even if you were also the author of the text on Wikipedia.

Thanks for contributing!

All the best,
