Hi, and welcome. Your article about your club was deleted. Please have a look at Wikivoyage:What is an article, and also look at don't tout. This site does not exist to promote clubs, or indeed to promote any business, and advertising is forbidden.

If your club is completely a non-profit professional organization or something, your actions had the appearance, at least, of advertising. So I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm, but please operate within Wikivoyage guidelines if you'd like to participate here.

All the best,

Your efforts to spam links all over the Cruising on small craft article are not appreciated. If you repeat this behavior, it will probably be necessary to block your account or/and blacklist sites so that no-one can post their URLs on this site, ever. Please start to cooperate. Thanks. Dear Ikan, Excuse me as I am new to Talk and can't quite figure out how to respond.

1) The Ocean Cruising Club is a non-profit global organization of cruising sailors and so I believed that it was highly relevant to the topic of small boat cruising. It was not advertising.

2) I was not aware that putting in links to outside articles that cover the remote destinations mentioned was considered spamming. Noonsite for example is world renowned as THE resource for cruising sailors and includes all the information about laws, immigration policies, and so on that a boater needs to know before getting there. OCC is the organization with the most experienced cruisers and their website contains information about cruising the remotest destinations in the world. Coastal Boating has information about many destinations that are not written about anywhere else.

So Ikan, if you consider that spamming, then I will not be contributing any knowledge to these pages. Many thanks for your input. —The preceding comment was added by CruisingKitty (talkcontribs)

Hi! Please sign all entries on talkpages with ~~~~ to generate a signature. Please read our policies first because the way you add, clearly violate our policies. Also be tone down your accusations against Ikan, he solely informed you about our policies. Regards, jan (talk) 13:39, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
CruisingKitty: When you post lots of naked links all over an article, it is not helpful to readers and has the strong appearance of advertising and the effect of causing other volunteer editors here to doubt the trustworthiness of any other link you post. So you started off on the wrong foot here, but that doesn't mean that you can't contribute anything. But please look at the don't tout and Wikivoyage:Listings pages, so that you can understand the tone and format needed for listings. Thanks. Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:32, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
