Welcome[edit]

Hello, Supernerd11! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.

Thanks for your work on Rochester (Indiana). However, it looks like you may have left out the "Go next" section, which appears at the end of city articles and is used to list neighboring cities. If you have any questions feel free to ask them on this page or in the Pub. And good luck with engineering school! -- Ryan • (talk) • 07:56, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Ryan! I'll get to work on the Rochester article, but I've got a question for future edits: How different is WikiVoyage from Wikipedia? I know original research and primary sources are preferred and there's a few style differences, but is there anything else? Supernerd11 :D Firemind ^_^ Pokedex 19:11, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You may want to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians.
Basically WV articles are written from a travelers point of view (someone who's going there) and WP for people who are interested in places from a more scholarly point of view. For instance if we take a theme park; the Wikipedia article isn't very concerned about which bus line you will have to take to get there, ticket prices and cafés, on the other hand the name of the owner and the yearly turnover and the park's exact size aren't things that would be relevant for a Wikivoyage article. Hope that helps, and welcome! :) ϒpsilon (talk) 19:28, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That really does, and the Welcome, Wikipedians page really helps too, thanks! Supernerd11 :D Firemind ^_^ Pokedex 19:58, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
