Uto[dead link] (宇土) is in Kumamoto (prefecture) on the island of Kyushu, Japan.

Get in[edit]

Uto is a stop on the JR Kagoshima Line.

By train[edit]

From Hakata station in Fukuoka, take the Relay Tsubame or Ariake limited express train to Kumamoto and transfer to the Kagoshima line local train for the run to Uto (1 hour 40 minutes, ¥4090). Local trains from Fukuoka take about 2½ hours at a cost of ¥2420 (at least one change of trains is required).

There are some famous and delicious foods in Uto city. Uto's mochi rice cake is one such famous food, and you can buy the rice cakes near Uto station for ¥300 per pack.
