Thanks. By the way, it's not supposed to mean we're off the hook for these jobs, just because we're admins! Any other ideas that should go on here? The link to the Wikitravl logbook redirects to November 2004. I'm not sure that that is the desired behaviour. Is this an out-of-date feature, or should the redirect be changed monthly to the current date? -- (WT-en) Brendio 15:55, 22 Jan 2006 (EST)

Does the logbook work at all these days? I can't see logbook entries at the Main Page, it's not mentioned in Project:Main Page guidelines and Project:Logbook archives shows that there's no news since May 2007.

BTW, if it doesn't work, isn't it time to remove "Today's Log" link in the navigation box shown on the top left of every page? --(WT-en) DenisYurkin 06:34, 26 January 2008 (EST)

Are these tasks really for newbies?

We are now saying:

This page lists some important jobs that need to get done that new Wikivoyagers may think they're not allowed or not supposed to do.

I think all task listed are best done by established users, who have a feel for when somebody should be welcomed, when a discussion has stalled, where Pub threads should be archived, why a guideline reads as it does, what is counted as consensus, etc.

Can we change "new" into "non-admin"? I suggest also changing the last sentences before the list:

"[...] administrators should do them. Not true at all! When you think you have an understanding for how things work, please feel free to plunge forward and make these things happen: Wikivoyage needs all the help we can get!"

We might also warn that plunging forward on a massive scale isn't the best thing to do; we don't want somebody to use a script to welcome all registered accounts without user talk pages (I remember complains about established users adding the welcome template for vandals and touts) or doing a major overhaul of the guideline pages, perhaps copying over the en-wp ones wholesale.
