[edit]

Hi everyone! In the sleep section currently some hostel/hotel operator keep recommending their own business. Same goes for some other Bali destinations Talk:Bali#Advertisements. Please feel free to adjust or delete them if you experience is/was different. Thanks (WT-en) Jan 05:36, 7 July 2008 (EDT)

Mates, this article is going from bad to worse. It is fully overloaded with ads ans non-style infos. Some business owners place in all sections their business... (WT-en) jan 03:59, 8 June 2009 (EDT)
Mainski are back and making entirely inappopriate and over the top advertising entries in multiple sections. Looking at the history of this page, why has the Mainski domain name/IP not been banned? --(WT-en) Burmesedays 07:47, 1 August 2009 (EDT)

I think that Mainski deserves a block for their consistent spamming of this page! In the past i solely forget to put some on the blacklist. I will write Jani/Peter a quick note. Feel free to revert them as I did in the past! Thanks for your efforts burmesedays! (WT-en) jan 14:54, 2 August 2009 (EDT)
Better to try to educate him/her first—it's amazing just how clueless some business owners are... The second step should be blacklisting the business' url. We try to keep blocks as a last resort, so lets wait on that option. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 16:14, 2 August 2009 (EDT)
Peter, thank you for approaching Mainski. Burmeseday and myself will see if it works. I know that blocking him is not desired but sometimes these business owner are annoying (especially in Asia). Regards, (WT-en) jan 03:15, 3 August 2009 (EDT)
Yes, thank you Peter. I hope you advice does the trick. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 11:11, 3 August 2009 (EDT)

Clean up and added a map[edit]

Did quite a lot of cleaning up of the page, notably re-writing poor English. Also added a map. What is the real policy on all the advertising on this page please? I am never quite sure with Wikivoyage as the 'policing' of pages varies quite a lot. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 07:22, 26 July 2009 (EDT)

The main policies for dealing with spam are Project:External links and Project:Don't tout. There are some more specialized guidelines too, like our policy on tours and apartment rentals. Hope that helps answer your question. And nice work on this article, by the way. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 10:11, 26 July 2009 (EDT)
Thanks Peter. I was aware of the guidelines and based on those this article is a bit of a mess and has been for long time! I will get editing. Cheers.--(WT-en) Burmesedays 12:09, 26 July 2009 (EDT)

Article looking a lot better[edit]

Well I think it is anyway :).

Removed some inaccuracies and rather tenuous claims by business owners, removed duplicate business entries in more than one section, tidied up email and website addresses and edited poor English. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 05:55, 28 July 2009 (EDT)

Hi Burmesedays! I would like to thank you very much for the cleanup of this article! I tip my hat for your work as I had to fight a rather lonesome war against the persitant business owners on NL. Keep up the sprit and have a great start in the week, (WT-en) jan 12:40, 28 July 2009 (EDT)
Thanks for the kind words jan. The article could still do with some standardisation but I think it at least now reads well and is very usable. I will try to keep an eye it on it. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 22:43, 28 July 2009 (EDT)
I suggest that the article should receive guide status as now the article is really good. Any objections? (WT-en) jan 08:14, 30 July 2009 (EDT)
The see, do, eat, and drink sections are not formatted properly. And the listing descriptions for the see & do sections need to be expanded. Once those tasks are completed, then I think this would qualify for guide status. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 10:04, 30 July 2009 (EDT)
I know the island very well and I must say that the article now meets the content guidelines to be a Guide article. Standard formatting is still an issue though as I indicated July 28. Let me look at that in next 24 hours.--(WT-en) Burmesedays 10:08, 30 July 2009 (EDT)
I must also point out though (WT-en) Peter that this is a tiny Indonesian island only 4 kilometres across. The formal formating for See and Do etc is really pointless as none of the places have phone numbers, websites or even addresses. To do 'proper' formatting for those sections just for the sake of a name and directions would seem a bit over the top and a lot of work for no usability improvement from the existing article. It is appropriate though for Eat and Drink I think. --Burmesedays 10:21, 30 July 2009 (EDT)
For the most part the changes I was referring to are really minor (e.g., Sunset Beach is a beautiful beach with white sand and crashing waves. → Sunset Beach. A beautiful white beach with white sand and crashing waves.) Looking more carefully at the article, though, I see that most of the bulleted points are not listings at all, that is, they should not be in listing format, nor should they be bulleted. The first half of the do section bullets activities (not activity listings for dive shops, spas, etc.). This should be converted to prose in paragraph form. These are hardly major issues, but they are necessary to fulfill the "closely matches the manual of style" requirement of guide status. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 10:36, 30 July 2009 (EDT)
I have now applied standard formatting to the Eat, Drink and Sleep>budget sections and will try to get the rest done soon. I hope then the article will be good and complete enough for Guide status.--(WT-en) Burmesedays 12:41, 28 August 2009 (EDT)

We are going to this island in Oct this year. i was wondering what we should take with us as we are staying in a private villa. Is there some where we can purchase food for us to cook or should we bring things from Bali , also can we hire snorkeling gear? thanks Deb

Deb this is probably not the place to be asking questions of that nature :). However, I am happy to help on my talk page User talk:(WT-en) Burmesedays. Please post any questions there. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 09:53, 28 August 2009 (EDT)
Great job, but where's that map from? If you drew it yourself, do you have a larger, editable version? (WT-en) Jpatokal 10:47, 29 August 2009 (EDT)
I had the map drawn yes and effectively own it. It can be as large as it needs to be - it is drawn in 1:2500 and I have the original 300 dpi image. There is a slightly updated version now with a scale shown (whoops!). Why do you want to edit it?--(WT-en) Burmesedays 13:30, 29 August 2009 (EDT)
Oh, I suspect for no particular reason - we just prefer to have the editable source file, so it can be changed if need arises. --(WT-en) Stefan (sertmann) Talk 14:45, 29 August 2009 (EDT)
Hi Burmeseday! I really like the changes you made in the article and think it should be a guide article. Peter is currently on holiday, so he might not response this week. I suggest we ask Stefan or Jani and if they have no objection you are granted the pleasure to change the status! Regards, (WT-en) jan 09:55, 31 August 2009 (EDT)
Go right ahead and change it to guide -- but please do upload the largest version you have. Wikivoyage will scale it down automatically for web display, but we need at least around 3000x2000px for anything usable when printed. (WT-en) Jpatokal 12:15, 31 August 2009 (EDT)
OK done. 3507 x 2480 version uploaded at shared as Nusa_Lembongan_Map_Wikivoyage.jpg. I am more than happy for Wikivoyage to have this on file for any necessary future edits, but do not want it to be shown in the article in a way that allows any user to access the full resolution copy. Once that happens local business owners will take the map, edit it and claim as their own property - happens all the time in this part of the world. I have therefore left the existing low res (and slightly different) version in the article. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 01:21, 1 September 2009 (EDT)
That kind of defeats the point-- if you don't use the larger version in the article, then the user never gets to see a legible version. Not only that, but in uploading the larger file, you can't release it on a Creative Commons license and then add your own prohibitions on its use as well. That's just not how it works. I suggest you either accept that, or request that it be deleted entirely on the grounds that you didn't understand the licensing system. (WT-en) Texugo 01:59, 1 September 2009 (EDT)
Ah. Now I understand. That is not how it was explained to me above: "Oh, I suspect for no particular reason - we just prefer to have the editable source file, so it can be changed if need arises. --Stefan (sertmann) Talk 14:45, 29 August 2009 (EDT)". I have no problem releasing the image on an unrestricted Creative Commons licence in a LR format (as I did originally before the request was made for the original high res image). I am not going to do that for the orginal though as it will be stolen wholesale by business operators here for their own benefit. If that means you have to delete larger file, then please do so. Equally, if the administrators of Wikivoyage wish to retain the larger file for the purposes that were originally explained to me ("so it can be changed if the need arises"), then you are very welcome to do so. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 03:31, 1 September 2009 (EDT)
That is the original point. Administrators have no special privileges when it comes to article content -- any user can edit them, and all users must be able to reuse them within the terms of the license. However, those licensing terms do not permit unlimited use, which may offer you legal recourse if businesses claim the map as their own. - (WT-en) Dguillaime 03:47, 1 September 2009 (EDT)
As I said in my last post, I now understand but that was not how it was epxlained. Just read back through this thread. But really, no issues and my advice remains: if you have no way of dealing with this other than releasing the high res original larger file, then please delete it. Legal recourse for copyright infringement in Indonesia is quite an amusing concept by the way :) . --(WT-en) Burmesedays 04:16, 1 September 2009 (EDT)
"Stolen"? What exactly do you lose if somebody else uses your map? One of the main points of Wikivoyage is that content here can be, and is, reused freely. (WT-en) Jpatokal 23:39, 1 September 2009 (EDT)
With all due respect, what I lose in those circumstances is not really anyone's business bar my own. As I have now said 3 times, I understand Wikivoyage's position and there are no issues. Please delete the high res map image larger file, and let's move on. I have by the way now started work on article Nusa_Penida and would suggest it is now worthy of usable status. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 02:20, 2 September 2009 (EDT)
Well, it's your file and your call, but it's definitely a loss to Wikivoyage and the world if you're unwilling to share a larger version that others could update and build on. Could I ask you to please at the very least upload a somewhat larger version of the current Image:Nusalembonganmap.gif? The current one is so small that most of the labels are illegible. (WT-en) Jpatokal 05:06, 2 September 2009 (EDT)
Sure will, I will upload a larger version tomorrow. Thanks. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 08:18, 2 September 2009 (EDT)
Deleted the larger file and upgraded Nusa Penida to usable. (WT-en) Texugo 02:30, 2 September 2009 (EDT)
Thank you very much Texugo. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 02:57, 2 September 2009 (EDT)

I'm a little concerned by the text on the image that says "Copyright [something] Bali Promosi Konsultan" and "[something] may not be reproduced without prior permission". I almost nominated it for deletion as a possible copyvio for that reason. Either way, we generally frown on having copyright information within the image itself, especially if it contradicts the free license under which it was uploaded. (WT-en) LtPowers 13:16, 3 September 2009 (EDT)

I'll second that concern, and venture that it probably should be vfd'd. (WT-en) Texugo 01:29, 4 September 2009 (EDT)
I do not have the file with me this weekend. However on Monday I will edit it, remove the offending statement and re-upload. No issue. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 08:31, 4 September 2009 (EDT)
Done. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 11:56, 4 September 2009 (EDT)

Nusa Ceningan[edit]

There will never be enough material for a developed article about this tiny island which a few people visit and where virtually none stay. I will therefore add a Nusa Ceningan section to this article and put a re-direct in place. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 13:22, 18 September 2009 (EDT)

Hotel website violating WT copyleft[edit]

Discussion moved here from [[User talk:(WT-en) Jpatokal#Link on Nusa_Lembongan page]]

Hi Jani, today 202.169.246.124 entered the following link to the Nusa Lembongan article in the sleep section: http://hostelisland.yolasite.com/ I think this is not ok as the page is a pure mirror of our NL article. I know we have a page for this at WT because its not within the licensing. I will delete the link to what to do with the page? (WT-en) jan 07:34, 18 September 2009 (EDT)

it is actually a Yola site apparently owned and built by the business owner. The whole home page is content lifted from WT Nusa Lembongan but there is information specifically about the business (Nanuk's Bungalow) on the 2nd level pages. I see that the business owner re-instated the link and then Peter deleted it also :). I suppose it could actually stay as it appears to be the official website of that business? --(WT-en) Burmesedays 23:54, 18 September 2009 (EDT)
Ah yeah, I may have done that too quickly. Better to allow the link, and contact the owner re: licensing violation. All he really needs to do is add Content of this page taken from Wikivoyage, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 1.0. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 00:04, 19 September 2009 (EDT)
That same link has been put back. Could an administrator please explain to the business owner the copyright requirement? --(WT-en) Burmesedays 04:10, 20 September 2009 (EDT)
No need for an administrator to do so—there isn't any difference in status, authority, or whatever between any users on Wikivoyage. The difficulty, of course, is in actually getting a hold of the fellow. Try sending him an email [1]? --(WT-en) Peter Talk 14:20, 20 September 2009 (EDT)
Sure. Done. If that does not work I will actually drop in and have a chat with them. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 22:55, 20 September 2009 (EDT)
No response by the way, despite an email and user talk page message. Finding the owner is hard work period. I have therefore removed the url from the listing.--(WT-en) Burmesedays 11:14, 19 October 2009 (EDT)

Partial protection[edit]

I have inserted a partial page protection for eight hours due to the edit warring on this article. All registered users can keep editing this article. (WT-en) jan 08:26, 26 October 2009 (EDT)

I have no clue why the partial protection does not work and Peter is also surprised because we both tried to edit the article as anonymous user and we couldn't save it.(WT-en) jan 04:45, 30 October 2009 (EDT)

Based on the edit history, this article seems to be the target of a very, very long-running campaign by one or more business owners. Would it make sense to nominate this article for a one month (or longer) protection against anonymous edits in the hope of deterring them? As it stands right now it looks like almost any anonymous edit gets reverted, so a page protection doesn't seem like it would hurt us in any way. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 22:13, 30 May 2010 (EDT)

Full support from me. I know who these guys are. Their main sleep listing has already been blacklisted, but there is little we can do to stop the messing with the boat options and vandalising of competitors. They use dynamic IPs, mostly from Telkom Speedy, and we cannot blacklist these as that would close off access from most Indonesian internet cafes! Against that background, protection from anonymous edits seems like a smart move. As an aside, this article is very popular with Nusa Lembongan business owners as it has a fantastic Google profile - ranked 1st or 2nd on the most relevant and competitive searches. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 23:29, 30 May 2010 (EDT)
I've added a one month protection against anonymous edits - hopefully that will stem the business vandalism. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 00:28, 31 May 2010 (EDT)

Nanuk & his touting friends are continiously back. I entered a one week partial block to stop that mess. (WT-en) jan 10:28, 30 August 2010 (EDT)

Same issue again!!! Partial protection dont work. Any suggestions? (WT-en) jan 10:35, 30 August 2010 (EDT)

Making photo changes[edit]

I've just joined the wikivoyage gang and as a long time visitor to Nusa lembongan I must say I am disappointed to find that i can not change/update photos. I just had a wonderful panoramic from Jungut Batu "undone" by the administrator sitting in Berlin. Given 90% of people go to Lembongan to surf/dive (at Jungut Batu because that's where the surf breaks are) and/or chill and relax (Mushroom Bay) does anyone find it interesting that all the photos are from the rather desolate SW corner of the island where no one visits and there isn't much to see (and I know the island like the back of my hand). The site gives a very poor graphically representation of what Lembongan has to offer AND what the masses tend to go there for (surfing and diving). The photos should approx. reflect the balance of photos on Flickr or any other sharing site - i.e. of the major attractions and areas of interest (Jungut Batu, Mushroom Bay and Lembongan village). —The preceding comment was added by (WT-en) Lembongan (talkcontribs)

Hi! I assume you refer to my reversion of your picture changes. As I stated on your talk page my reversal was due to nonfuntional links you inserted. The last change from you was not challenged by my side (you need to purge the page to refresh to see that the top picture you added is their). NL is a star article but you can plunge forward. Learn a bit about the community first before complaining. I will add on your talk page our welcome message so you can learn a bit more about our guidelines. (WT-en) jan 10:46, 5 July 2010 (EDT)

Ok, Jan, point taken. Thanks for the input/feedback,. --(WT-en) Lembongan 13:44, 5 July 2010 (EDT)

Sort of fair point on the geographic spread of photos, most of which were taken by me on my favourite bits of the island. Only sort of fair though. The two underwater shots do not reflect your point, nor does the sunset or the mangroves pic. IF you have some freely licensed Lembongan surf pics please do upload them and we can use them. I do not have any.
Your comment about the desolate southwest "where no one visits and there isn't much to see no one goes" is highly arguable. Some find that to be the most attractive part of the island.
I would strongly disagree with your statement "The site gives a very poor graphically representation of what Lembongan has to offer AND what the masses tend to go there for (surfing and diving)". Find me a guide to Nusa Lembongan anywhere on the internet that is better and more balanced than this one and I will humbly doff my cap to you.--(WT-en) Burmesedays 01:51, 13 July 2010 (EDT)

Lembongan Cliff Villas-edit conflicts[edit]

When I look up the property I find the following information: from : Contact Us

Coconut Beach –Lembongan Island. Mobile: 081 337 379396

At http://www.lembongancliffvillas.com/ I find the description:

  • General Information:

Lembongan Cliff Villas is located at the Selambung beach which is now known as Coconut beach, lies between the valley of Jungutbatu village and Lembongan village. This tranquil location is remote from the main crowded of the island where visitors feel the real nature atmosphere of Lembongan Island

Lembongan Cliff Villas was built 7 meters above the white sandy beach overlooking to the three surfing points on the island, which are: playgrounds, lacerations and shipwrecks. 500 meters to the north side is Puncak Sari Temple, the grandest Hindu temple on the island. The magnificent scenery of Mount Agung and Bali island are clearly seen from the villas during the sunny day.

Lembongan Cliff Villas opened in August 2010 has some villas which are designed in Balinese style interior and building architecture. The main swimming pool with 5 x 8 square meters is available equipped with pool umbrella and long chairs.

This website appears to be operated by http://www.balitrips.net/lembonganhotels.html on behalf of the owners so I suggest the following listing unless there is some issue of marketing conflict going on here between the owners and the promoters in which case we should list the owners details if available, my concern is that this listing maybe otherwise promoting the details of a clumsy but enthusiastic hijack:

I am doubtful of the veracity of the edits by [202.43.181.2] as they have been obviously touting at the Amed and did some clumsy edits at Lovina article. I note that Burmesdays has been active on both of those articles tidying up that issue.

On the strength of that I am placing the following entry for Lembongan Cliff Villas into the article in substitution of the most recent edit by 202.43.181.2, if there is some problem with the contact details maybe it needs to be posted here on the discussion page:

  • <sleep name="Lembongan Cliff Villas" alt="" address="Selambung beach" directions="Location is also known as Coconut beach" phone="+62 361 9104949" url="http://www.lembongancliffvillas.com" checkin="2PM" checkout="noon" price="From US$64-US$115 inc 21% tax&service" lat="" long="" email="reservation@lembongancliffvillas.com" fax="+62 361 465086">Selambung beach lies between the valley of Jungutbatu village and Lembongan village. User:(WT-en) Burmesedays is the expert on this article, but I know there have been a number of touts abusing this article, resulting in several listings being removed. The article history probably provides the best record of what was done and why. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 13:50, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
User:(WT-en) Burmesedays seems to be MIA at the moment. I will just leave things as they are now and see what develop, hopefully nothing. If the silly business starts up again it may need some intervention as it seems to have had a long history. Thanks for getting back to me, cheers. (WT-en) felix 17:08, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
I have done a general spelling, grammar, de-tout, simplify, de-clutter and translate from bahasa indolish on the Sleep section listings most especially the Mid-range sub-section. Also a bit of a tidy up on the Get in-From Sanur Beach ferry/speedboats and WT linked Gili islands and Lombok destinations in the Get out section. (WT-en) felix 02:42, 22 October 2010 (EDT)

  • Rigils Lembongan Bungalows & SPA - email rigilslembongan@yahoo.com, fax +62 366 24493, tel +62 878 6132 3761 (Wayan).
Rigils Lembongan Bungalows & SPA has the url http://www.rigilslembongan.com/ listed in the article but lists the tel number, and fax number of Victory Shine. In conflict with this the email address rigilslembongan@yahoo.com is provided in the article however http://www.rigilslembongan.com/ website provides a different email address; reservations@rigilslembongan.com and also a html email form. Please note this is a different email address to the WT listing that provides a yahoo address.
  • Rickey Lembongan Beach Huts, Tamarind Beach - url (not provided), email rickeybeach@yahoo.com, fax +62 366 24493, tel +62 878 6132 3761 (Wayan)
  • Song Lambung Beach Inn - url (not provided), email (not provided), fax +62 366 24493, tel +62 878 6132 3761 (Wayan)

The http://www.victoryshinelembongan.com website only provides detail of 2 properties
Victory Shine Lembongan Bungalows & SPA and Lembongan Secret Cliff Huts.
Currently the Victory Shine website does not detail or list any other accommodation locations.

When the number +62 878 6132 3761 described on the Victory Shine Bungalows & SPA website is called it is answered by Wayan who describes himself as the Manager of Victory Shine Bungalows & SPA. The owner details provided by him verbally are confusing. Possibly Pak Adi is the owner. Wayan (the manager of Victory Shine) has promised to provide a telephone number for the owner of the enterprise/s but this has not been forthcoming. Pak Adi (the owner) has not responded to enquiries made to a number for him provided by another party. When calling +62 878 7659 3513, also listed on the Victory Shine Bungalows & SPA website it is answered by Agus.

It is noted that Nanuks Lembongan Bungalows", a previously blacklisted listing was associated with the tel number +62 878 61323761 in may 2010 (see Revision of 11:27, 22 May 2010)

Other numbers have been associated with these listings in the past including:

  • Adi Bungalows listing was originally established providing the number 081916268871, this number was called, the answering party described themselves as a "nephew". He was initially reluctant to identify either himself or the business but when prompted with the name Adi Bungalows he then said that he could take a booking. He soon became agitated when questioned as to his relationship with the accom provider for purposes of clarifying the listing status on WT and terminated the call, he was called back, but hung up again. This was the original contact number provide when Adi Bungalows was first listed in the article on 2 April 2011 by IP 125.167.96.105.
  • On 8 April Adi Bungalows listing was changed to +62 87862085432 by IP 49.128.191.2 The same IP later added the name (Agus) after the tel number and made some minor listing edits to accom details. Agus was then called and seemed confused about his role but was also prepared to accept bookings, he described himself as a family member of the owner. The number called is also listed on the Victory Shine website. He was asked to call back and confirm the details and operating relationship between the multiple listings and himself and provide details of the owner, he initially agreed to do so but has not called back with those details. IP 49.128.191.2 has previously been active replacing info@victoryshinelembongan.com associated listings with various yahoo and gmail addresses.
  • Both (WT-en) Wrh2 and (WT-en) felix have performed rvt edits to several such edits in the past and IP 49.128.191.2 has been requested to leave edit notes or an explanation for the changes.
  • No explanation has been forthcoming to date and when Agus was telephoned today he seemed to be apparently unfamiliar with the existence of WT. IP 49.128.191.2 previously added the name (Agus) in a revision at 06:14, 8 April 2011. In a revision at 01:43, 10 April 2011 9.128.191.2 changed the tel number of Dungun Bay Bungalow from +62 878 6208 5432 (Agus) to +62 878 7659 3513 (Agus). Although Agus is not entirely convincing on the telephone. IP 9.128.191.2 has previously made a number of edits to details associated with all these properties including details of pricing and an extensive series of edits to many of the properties concerned regarding the provision of speedboat transfers.
  • If indeed all these properties are controlled by one family the swapping around of contact details may indicate a fraternal dispute is in progress or that the listings are being hijacked by persons other than the true owners and operators of these businesses.
  • The people answering the various phone numbers supplied in the listings describe themselves as family members of the owner. All responses seem inconsistent with that of a normal business operation, however they appear to want to accept bookings. Considerable prompting of the called party is required to identify either the business concerned or who is answering the telephone when first speaking with the answering party at the various numbers.
  • All concerned express an apparent unawareness of Wikivoyage and the listings in the Nusa Lemnongan article despite their activities being quite comprehensively promoted here.

Victory Shine is currently directly associated with the listing details of 9 separate accommodation listings in the Nusa Lembongan article. The responses provided to an appeal for edit notes or information on the discussion page followed by a direct approach by telephone to the numbers listed have been somewhat inadaquate and contradictory, accordingly the following action has been taken:

  • The primary Victory Shine Beach front Bungalows & SPA - email info@victoryshinelembongan.com, fax+62 366 24493, tel +62 878 6132 3761 (Manager-Wayan) remains as previously listed as it is consistent with the details provided and the phone number matches that provided on their website.

The same details as provided on the Victory Shine website will be used in replacement of the current listing details for Lembongan Secret Cliff Huts and also Lembongan Secret Cliff Huts until suitable information is provided to clarify why the WT article listing is not consistent with the information provided on the Victory Shine website.

Both the listings above are now subject to close scrutiny and are subject to possible removal from the article unless corrective detail is provided. The accommodation provider is requested to register as a business user of Wikivoyage and to describe the services they provide and the locations at which they are provided on Nusa Lembongan asap.

  • The other 7 listings containing email, fax and telephone numbers being inconsistent, unsupported or not matching those on the URL provided in the listing have had that content removed from the listing. This also applies to the listings containing url, email, fax and telephone numbers matched to Victory Shine as those 7 additional individual properties are not currently described in any way on the Victory Shine website.

Suggested remedy

  • 1.The accommodation provider should create a user account at Wikivoyage and register as a business user. Please refer to the article specifically providing information for business owners when doing this. This will identify the owner of the business on their user page. Doing so adds some transparency by clearly identifying the actual business owner, and also gives travellers a way to contact the business owner/manager with questions.
  • 2. The accommodation listings should provide contact details of the accommodation provider only, not those of a booking service or agent representing the provider. Please do not list an establishment many times. An establishment should be listed in the article for the town in which it is located, but it should be listed only once within that article. If these are entirely different operations being separately managed then it is necessary to describe why they they are not detailed on the webpage linked to the listing and why there are some apparent conflicts in the email addresses and telephone numbers provided. If they have a common point of contact and share a reception and management overview then please list them all in one listing as provided in the example below.
  • 3. If all these properties are operated by one family as suggested in some of the responses to direct enquiry then please detail the relationship on the User page so it is clear to Wikivoyage editors and to ensure that conflicts in information and listing detail are less likely to arise in the future.

Accurate and descriptive detail is imperative to the interests of the traveller, please ensure that in future the details provided only to the booking and reception numbers of the accommodation detailed in the article or those listings may be removed from the article.
Please detail the correct information here on the article discussion page prior to making any further edits to these listings.

General advice for listing in this article

  • Please do not provide your details as a contact or as a booking agent for an accommodation or any other provider unless you are the operator or owner of that business. Secondary booking agents or booking services should not be included in the listing.
  • If several properties are being operated under the same banner and through a common reception and booking service then that provider should be listed just one timme and the separate properties may be described within that listing. -- (WT-en) felix 12:00, 21 April 2011 (EDT)

Please make any edits to these listings here on the Discussion page first, do not change any detail of the above listings in the main article without discussion here first. -- (WT-en) felix 12:00, 21 April 2011 (EDT)

I've wondered about several of the recent edits as well and am glad you're spearheading this. If the business owner in question would explain him/herself it would be greatly appreciated. -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 22:05, 21 April 2011 (EDT)
felix, during my (very) long absence, thanks so much for keeping a keen eye on this article. I think the line taken on Victory Shine is absolutely correct. I will find out more but I suspect this is an agent as much as anything else. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 10:21, 24 April 2011 (EDT)

Lead photo[edit]

I fear the lead photograph is too wide for smaller browser widths. It leaves "Nusa" on a single line with "Lembongan" pushed to beneath the photo for me. (WT-en) LtPowers 11:21, 2 August 2011 (EDT)

Good point. I have switched it with the Dream Beach shot.--(WT-en) Burmesedays 11:56, 2 August 2011 (EDT)

Suka Beach[edit]

This sounds like a decent listing but contact details are the absolute minimum required. A Google search reveals nothing except as part of a diving package. If anyone know this place, please insert contact details and place the listing back into the article.

  • <sleep name="Suka Beach Bungalows. Also known as Hello Beach." alt="" address="Jungut Batu." directions="One of the last resorts on the strip. Cleanup of boat listings[edit]

There are 23 listings of boat services to the island, rather overwhelming in my opinion. I think the page would be improved by removing the listings and simply explaining ports, routes and sailing times in a clear way. Especially in the light of Covid-19 whereby many companies look like they might be folding, and only a few are still actively operating. Unless there is any objection, I'll make the edits next week. Natataek (talk) 08:18, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good to me. We want to make this article user-friendly, regardless of the interests of the 23 boat businesses. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:45, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
