Driving: Take the N4 from Dublin. Flying: Newport is a one hour drive from Knock Airport.

Get around

You'll need to drive. The town itself is only one street, but any outlying attractions are a bit of a drive. There are no buses. Newport used to have a train station but it has been closed for years.

Newport has a lot of outdoorsy things to do. If you like horseback riding, climbing, cycling or fishing, you've come to the right place. It's a haven for golfers too; there are a lot of famous golf courses around.
