From Dublin, the N3 will get you to Cavan town in about 1.5 hours.

From Dublin, Belfast, or Donegal.
Get around
You will need a car to get around County Cavan speedily. Besides the hourly bus services to Dublin, etc., there is little in the way of public transport.
County Sports Partnership offers bikes to hire, two tandem bicycles, one hand-cycle and one universal hand-cycle wheelchair attachment.
By bus
Local Link Cavan Monaghan operate a frequent town bus service in Cavan, consisting of three routes:
- Route C1 provides a service from the northern villages of Ballyhaise and Butlers Bridge into Cavan, serving Cavan Institute, Cavan Bus Station and terminating at the Kilmore Roundabout in the east of the town. Buses run 8 times per day Monday to Saturday.
- Route C2 provides a service from the southern village of Ballinagh into Cavan, serving Cavan Bus Station, Swellan and terminating at Cavan General Hospital in the west of the town. Buses run 8 times per day Monday to Saturday.
- Route C3 provides a cross-town service from Farnham Estate in the west, via Cavan General Hospital, Cavan Bus Station and Cavan Institute to Rocklands in the east, running 8 times per day Monday to Saturday. An extension of route C3 continues to the northern villages of Ballyhaise and Redhills, 3 times per day Monday to Saturday.
All three routes connect with each other at Cavan Bus Station in the centre of the town. No town bus service operates on Sundays.
Single fares on the town bus service range between €1.50-€4.00 adult, €1.50-€3.50 student and €1.00-€2.00 child. Weekly tickets are also available.
