Al Diwaniyah is located on the rail corridor between Baghdad and Basra. Iraqi Republic Railways runs two overnight trains which both calls here. 1 Al Diwaniyah railway station is located east of city centre.
For birdwatchers, Al-Diwaniyah is a city with a rich bird list, as the city has a wide range of biodiversity as Al-Qadisiyah consists of vast agricultural areas, wetlands, arid zones, and semi-desert areas.
- 1 Zarb Castle (قلعة ذرب) (45 km southwest of the city). Ottoman castle, built in 1770.
- 1 Kebab carpet Restaurant (مطعم كباب السجاد). 06:00-21:00 daily. This could be an interesting place to go if you want to eat at a kabob house.
- 1 Buraj Alemra'a Tourising Resturant and Hotel, ☏ . In a city of few hotels, this is about all that can be recommended. It looks like the wallpaper has probably absorbed many years of cigarette smoke and that the night stand lamps have probably been around since the 1940's, but at least ayou can get some decent Iraqi fare in the restaurant.
