Castlegar is a small village in County Galway.

Castlegar County Galway is a parish in the West of Ireland, and is believed to the origin of the name; Casltegar in British Columbia.

This location is to the East of Galway City and has a number of traditional Irish Castles at Killeen, Ballindooley, Castlegar Village, Cloonacauneen, Menlo and Ballybrit. Castlegar borders Lough Corrib and the river Corrib.

It is also home to the renowned Galway Races at Ballybrit - a horse racing event which is held four times a year and is especially known for its unique facility for families.*
