Summary

Description

Crossing the New Bridge with the drum corps keeping the beat, while the pipers get their breath back!

Helmsdale Highland Games took place at Couper Park, Helmsdale on Saturday 20th August 2011. It is traditional that the Chieftain's parade is played to the field (on the south side of the River Helmsdale) from the centre of the village (which is on the north side of the river) by Pipe Bands.

This year the Bands comprised: - Northern Constabulary - Royal Burgh of Tain - Sutherland Schools - Thurso

The Parade started from outrside the Bridge Hotel, along Dunrobin Street to the A9 trunk road (Stafford Street) and then southwards on the A9 over the Helmsdale (New) Bridge to Couper Park.

The weather was good, the crowd was in good form, and everybody seemed to have a great time.
