Islas Secas is an island in the Gulf of Chiriquí in the Pacific West of Panama.

Get in

Islas Secas is located 16 miles south east of Boca Chica, which is considered to be the jumping off point for sport fishing and scuba diving in the Gulf of Chiriquí.

From David’s Enrique Malek International Airport: Islas Secas can be accessed by boat from the small fishing village of Boca Chica which is less than an hour from David's Enrique Malek. Alternatively, a five minute car ride from David to the nearby port of Pedregal will enable travelers to board a boat for the 50 minute scenic ride to Boca Chica.

A flight from Panama City to David costs about $70.00. Construction has begun to expand David's airport to accommodate direct regular flights from the U.S. and Canada.

There is an Islas Secas private plane, leaving from Tocumen, Panama’s International airport or Albrook Field. Secas flights can be coordinated with International arrivals at Tocumen. However, the transfer on the resort’s aircraft is an additional $400 roundtrip from Panama to Islas Secas and back.

Get around

The island can be assessed by the resort's boat called the Betty Fae, named after a popular soap opera character.

See

The diving around the islands offers very good visibility during the dry months and is home to many fish that flock around the rocky and coral outcrops and also form large schools. White-tip sharks, rays and turtles are seen frequently as are free swimming moray eels, lobster and nudibranchs. Humpback whales can be seen around these islands at a certain time of year.
