Naurzum State Nature Reserve is in the Kazakhstani North. Together with the Korgalzhyn Nature Reserve it forms a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The landscape is mainly steppe with some pine and birch forests.

Flora and fauna

The fauna of the park is fairly similar to northern Europe including elk, foxes, wolves and a wide range of rodents.

Get in

The park is located on the Turgai plateau, about 150km southeast of Kostanay and 400km northwest of the national capital Astana.
