Northern Jordan is the most developed region of Jordan. It includes the capital Amman.

- Ajlun — a hill town in the north of Jordan, noted for its impressive ruins of the 12th century castle which known nowadays as Ajlun Castle.
- Irbid — second largest metropolitan area in the north of the kingdom
- Jerash — one of the largest Roman ruins in the Middle East
- Salt — ancient town which was once the capital of Jordan
- Zarqa — third largest metropolitan area of the kingdom

- Ajlun Castle, a great example of Islamic military architecture built during the Crusades, is an interesting maze of passages and levels, and offers a wonderful view of the surrounding area, northwestern Jordan, and off into Galilee.
- The Baptism Site “Bethany Beyond the Jordan” (Al-Maghtas) just west of the Israeli border is the place where Jesus is said to have been baptized. The site is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List
