Panvel is a fast developing and the most populated city of Raigad District which falls under Navi Mumbai Area. It is well connected by Road & Rail to rest of the India and soon a new airport will also connect it by air. Panvel is approx.300 years old. It was a small port handling Salt, Ganja etc.in earlier days. Panvel is city centrally located with all required facilities and Industrial area (Taloja MIDC, Patalganga MIDC, Kamothe Ind.Area, Uran Port area, Khopoli etc. and upcoming SEZs).
There are few old temples which are worth visiting in Panvel. The famous Saibaba Temple is near Railway Station. Karnala Bird Sanctuary is situated near Panvel.
