Rhenish tower

Sompting is a village in West Sussex.

Get in

The church, which is what you want to see, is north of the A27 trunk road from Brighton to Worthing. Most of the village is south of the road between Lancing and Worthing. The road signing for the church leaves a bit to be desired but it is well worth finding.

Get around

See

  • Church. The feature to be seen is the Saxon tower of the church -a rare if not unique example of the Rhenish style in the UK. It's thought to be the closest Saxon architects could get to a spire.
