Disambiguation?[edit]

Does Cooperstown (New York) meet our "much more famous" guideline for getting the un-disambiguated title? Cooperstown, New York, is a baseball mecca and named after legendary author James Fenimore Cooper; the one in North Dakota is a fairly average small town. Neither is very famous, but... I'm all for removing disambiguators when we can, and the ND Cooperstown, although we have a decent enough guide to it, is nowheresville. --Peter Talk 21:01, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Cooperstown, New York, is famous among baseball fans. I've never heard of Cooperstown, North Dakota. I think the town in New York passes the test. Ikan Kekek (talk) 03:32, 22 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have never heard of either, and would not consider myself geographically challenged. I would guess that most people outside of the US would not know either. • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 05:59, 22 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It may not be famous outside of the US, but inside of the US Cooperstown is synonymous with baseball. Also, for what it's worth w:Cooperstown redirects to the town in New York. -- Ryan • (talk) • 06:05, 22 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
With only two to choose from, we're not adding any additional clicks to get to the lesser known version. --Inas (talk) 01:02, 4 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
We usually link to the dab page even when there's only one other choice, don't we? So it would actually increase the number of clicks. LtPowers (talk) 12:14, 4 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Tally up one more pro-"much more famous" vote from me. -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 06:31, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
