Upgrading pages[edit]

Hi all,

As I'm currently working on upgrading Gippsland-related pages to usable, if anyone is curious on a summary table of the status of pages, I'm keeping track on User:LivelyRatification#Status table of Gippsland articles. Here's the current table, though as it doesn't automatically update, it's only accurate at the time I'm writing this message.

Type/Status
Matrix
Outline Usable Guide Star Total
   Outline    Usable    Guide    Star
District 0 0 0 0 0
City 10 6 0 0 16
Airport 0 0 0 0 0
Park 2 0 0 0 2
Rural area 1 2 0 0 3
Dive guide 0 0 0 0 0
Region 0 0 0 0 0
Country 0 0 0 0 0
Continent 0 0 0 0 0
Destinations 13 8 0 0 21

Hope this can help if you have any articles you'd like to upgrade! --LivelyRatification (talk) 04:03, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Let's make Yarragon guide. SHB2000 (talk) 05:31, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea. Not planning to go there any time soon but I could add some more listings, information, etc. --LivelyRatification (talk) 09:30, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Note my main focus at the moment is upgrading other Gippsland articles to usable so this might not be my main priority. --LivelyRatification (talk) 10:45, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I just said that as a joke. I'll need to complete Innamincka as well. SHB2000 (talk) 21:23, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
At least we don't have any stubs. SHB2000 (talk) 21:23, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting this region up[edit]

Map
Map of Gippsland

@LivelyRatification, Ground Zero: There's a good 28 articles breadcrumbed underneath this region, and I think it's time to split them up. Proposing it similar to how I did it on New England (New South Wales) by LGA.

Here's just what I thought:

  • East Gippsland

all towns and parks in the East Gippsland LGA

  • Wellington and Latrobe Central Gippsland

all towns and parks in the Wellington and Latrobe LGAs

  • South and West Gippsland

all towns and parks in the South Gippsland, Bass Coast and Baw Baw LGAs + both the Phillip and French Islands

Does this work out? I'm only making these based on a map of Victoria's LGAs, only so it's easier to make a coloured dynamic map. But if some other boundary works better, that may as well be the one that we should use. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 04:06, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(please excuse the incomplete map...) --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 04:22, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@SHB2000: That works fine enough. Might suggest that the Wellington and Latrobe region be renamed Central Gippsland. --LivelyRatification (talk) 05:06, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah that's fine. Will fix that in a sec. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 06:36, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@LivelyRatification: Now that the boundaries have been made, which nine cities should stay on the cities list? SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 06:54, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
At a guess - Bairnsdale, Leongatha, Traralgon, Sale, Warragul, Orbost, Wonthaggi, Lakes Entrance, and uh, maybe Paynesville? Those last 4 seem like a stretch, but if you want 9 that's my 9. LivelyRatification (talk) 19:05, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Will start now. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 22:27, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes Done Moved everything, but replaced Paynesville with Stratford because that's a star article and now there's three in every region. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 23:57, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's a logo of Maccas that we'll have to let go. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 05:18, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can't imagine why it would be useful, anyway. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:58, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I see it was part of a table. Why do we have a table of WV:Boring chain restaurants? Why don't we delete it? Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:01, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Gippsland#Eat is very useful though, especially when travelling in small towns where most establishments are closed during public holidays. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 06:01, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If this kind of list is useful, I suggest making all the names plain text. Hungry Jack's logo is obviously copyvio, but even using the colors and fonts of the chains seems like bad faith to me. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:07, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure about Hungry Jack's though; the logo is Australian, but I don't know whether US trademark law applies to that logo given Hungry Jacks is the master franchise of Burger King in Australia, but that's a thing for Commons to deal with. I'll write them out in plain text in just a moment. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 07:30, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
