Don't revert[edit]

Just a request but if Brendan ever adds a listing here, can you please not revert him. I'm struggling to find info outside NSW so his help will be appreciated. (can be copyedited later) SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 06:34, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Listing details[edit]

I think the listings should refer to the relevant destination article, for details. I don't know whether this is recommended in any guideline, but I think it is practice. By keeping changes information (such as hours, phone numbers and ticket prices) there, we avoid that info getting updated at only one of the two places. Links to the destination articles are needed anyway for getting in, finding accommodation etc. –LPfi (talk) 07:14, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

True but... given that we'd end up pointing to about 20 articles after this is finished, I don't think it's good practice, especially if someone wan't to print these out. And it does save about printing 20 sheets of paper. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 07:59, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@SHB2000: I think people will read this kind of topic articles online before a journey, not printing them out at that point. Thus they have access to the destination articles with little trouble. When they go, they have hopefully decided what places to visit, and they need to print out those destination articles anyway – those few who use dead tree for reading our articles – for the rest of the information, unless we effectively duplicate all information here. Won't they want to know how to get in, and where to eat and sleep other than at the spa? Perhaps even see the world heritage site that happens to be close? I thus think the benefit of updates and improvements reaching the page people are reading outweighs the slim chance of a benefit in less printing. –LPfi (talk) 10:53, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
True. Plus, is this even a world heritage site? https://whc.unesco.org/en/statesparties/au doesn't seem to say anything on the Great Artesian Basin. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 11:06, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I meant that there might be great sights in the towns listed, besides the spas. –LPfi (talk) 19:45, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I see. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 00:27, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Name[edit]

Why is "tourism" in the article name? This is a travel guide. I'd suggest removing the word. Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:01, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Because you can't visit the inland sea. It's underground. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 21:51, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see that as relevant to the name. If you can't visit it, you could equally credibly say you can't tour it. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:33, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I should've been more clearer. The springs and all those listed here are all based on the water that occasionally pops up above ground. Quite confusing, although w:simple:Great Artesian Basin has a quick overview on it. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 01:37, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see any of this as relevant to why the word "tourism" is essential in this title. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:47, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I'll move the page to Great Artesian Basin. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 07:15, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Yes Done I'll be going to the outback this Chrissie so I might add some more info if possible. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 07:17, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
