I removed the following external link, but adding the information to the guide would be excellent.

Navagraha Temple Tour Route Map. Here is the link to temple route map for the travellers visiting Navagraha temples in Tamilnadu. [1]

Hierarchy[edit]

Should this article be repointed in the breadcrumbs to Pondicherry (union territory), since it's part of that territory? What best serves the traveller without unduly confusing editors? Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:02, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I puzzled over this a while back, but given that the territory/states involved are subnational with their boundaries having virtually no effect on the traveller, I think that insisting on putting the oddly decentralized Pondicherry territory in the breadcrumb would essentially amount to insisting on an administrative hierarchy rather than a geographical hierarchy. Pondicherry doesn't even seem to have a "main geographical area" of its own; it's just very tiny enclaves in three states and its own page is barely more than a glorified disambiguation. Having just "Pondicherry" in the breadcrumb tells us nothing about the physical geographical location, and there are certainly not enough Pondicherry destinations to justify creating separate bottom-level Pondicherry regions under each state, so short of petitioning the Indian government to call off this silliness and put things in the state where they're located, I think the best thing to do is to give the breadcrumb to the state which surrounds a given enclave, with a disclaimer in the intro of each explaining that it is technically administered by Pondicherry. This should also apply to the other 3 Pondicherry destinations, and the Pondicherry page should be readapted as an extraregion, with its category removed. With a total of only 4 destination articles in this predicament and an extremely limited number of possible future articles, I don't think it is likely to become unmanageable. That seems like a reasonable solution to me. Note this edit, though I don't think it would be controversial, anyway, because cities are normally excluded from "Other destinations". Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:52, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
