Could anyone specify on the public transport system?

Water pollution and swim across the lake

As far i know, the water is no loger at risk. Public safety department performs annual check-ups and last year they gave the permission for bathing

So i think it's better to remove the news form the "stay safe".

Swimming across the lake is certainly dangerous, but locals usually do it in some occasions. They do it safely with support boats and teams, so if you want to do it just ask to the tourist office if you can join one of these events. —The preceding comment was added by Gerryino (talk • contribs)

Red-linked cities

These listings were deleted from the article but might be useful if anyone wants to create articles about them:

• Bellano - just north of Varenna on the east side. Nice non-touristed town, with a pedestrian-only area in the town center. In the Italian tradition, most stores are closed from noon/1PM until about 3PM. Bellano was a silk production center but those factories are now closed. The orrido (gorge) is geologically impressive but most of the tremendous flow is now directed into a powerhouse.

• Griante - small village on a plateau on the west side of the lake. Worth visiting for its surrounding villas and for the spectacular views of the lake from the Santuario Della Madonna delle Grazie di San Martino, a small church perched high on the mountain side.

• Mandello del Lario - between Varenna and Lecco on the south eastern branch of the lake. Since 1921, Mandello del Lario has been home to Moto Guzzi—the Italian motorcycle manufacturer. At the factory there's a museum that can be visited from Mon to Fri at 3 pm.

Both Mandello del Lario and Bellano should be included in the list of cities.

Mandello del Lario is actually mentioned further down the page in the section on arriving by motorcycle. It is one of the more important industrial towns on the lake and attracts thousands of visitors annually because of the Moto Guzzi factory and museum. There is usually a Moto Guzzi rally on average every 2 years which may attract up to 5,000 motorcyclists.

Bellano is a an attractive and historical town that fronts on to the widest part of the lake and is probably of greater interest than some of the other small villages mentioned in the list.
