Status[edit]

This was knocked back down to outline, but I actually think it is a (weak) usable. Per Wikivoyage:City guide status the bar is pretty low: Has at least a Get In section and one Eat and Sleep listing each with contact information. At least the most prominent attraction is identified with directions. This article has that. Any objections if I kick it back up to usable? The Right Bank is not exactly jam packed with stuff for tourists, so it will probably remain a short article even when better developed. --Peter Talk 20:40, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to me to be stretching the definition of "usable" if this counts. McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Subway, and a single hotel with no price information or description? Nothing in Do, Buy, or Drink? A single sentence in the lead? If this meets the bar, the bar is too low. LtPowers (talk) 22:08, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, yes. As I wrote in the main article, key attractions of the Right Bank are old factories at the Okhta and the suburban district of Porokhovye Factories. I forgot to mention that it is also the place where the city was actually founded in 17th century, when it was the Swedish Fortress Nienschantz at the confluence of the Neva and Okhta. This spot is nowadays marked with a nice monument.
Sorry, but I can't write any reasonable text about this district right now. If you want to write it, check this link [1], but note that the report covers the district of Porokhovye only. It does not show some nice places like [2] and [3], which are my absolutely favorite — they are so amazingly quiet and derelict... --Alexander (talk) 22:25, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I walked around that area today, I could not find Porokhovye Factory even though I walked on Sverdlovskaya embankment nearly on its entirety (which is a nice walk regardless of the factory ;). The gate which is on one of the photos is apparently alongside street Khimikov (around lat=59.9689 long=30.4743). I haven't seen it by myself, it's just the result of some research on the net. Utkina dacha is misplaced on the map and would be at lat=59.9347 long=30.4228 , but access was blocked when we tried to get there - ChristopheFergeau (talk) 19:19, 6 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed the coordinates, sorry for this mishap. I hope you did not run into trouble when looking for these off-the-beaten-path attractions.
Just for the record, the wrong coordinates were added by User:Globetrotter19, and it is not the first time I see big problems with the content added by this user... --Alexander (talk) 06:13, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for fixed the coordinates.
Just for the record the wrong address,- Sverdlovskaya embankment,- was added by User:186.222.188.112 (24 February 2013‎) and...
About Utkina dacha. If you typed google map 'Utkin prospekt, 4' You will get (59.93859,30.446241). I gave that. But You have true. Now I searched backway and I get 'prospekt Utkin, 17' for same coords. Sorry for this mistake! BTW Utkina-Dacha address showing Utkin prospekt, 2 and not 4! - -User:Globetrotter19
P.S. I am a little bit confused! No one corrected the wrong address(es), at Porokhovye Factory or Utkina-Dacha! What are the correct addresses?
Neither Utkina dacha nor the factory gate are regular buildings, so they may not have an address. Street name and directions should be given instead. --Alexander (talk) 11:29, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the fixes, no problem with getting lost, this was enjoyable anyway :) Regarding Utkina Dacha, if access is permanently closed, it should not be listed here -- Christophe (talk) 11:17, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean by "permanently closed"? Is the bridge over the Okkervil river (end of Respublikanskaya street) unaccessible? --Alexander (talk) 11:29, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
See https://people.gnome.org/~teuf/utkina-datcha-barrier.png We came from Malaya Yablonovka, and there were barriers blocking the access to the dacha. There were signs saying there are CCTV cameras, and that we should only proceed if we have a valid pass. We could cross the bridge you mention so this was not a dead-end -- Christophe (talk) 12:46, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Then add a note saying that the building is under renovation and may not be accessible, but I see no reason to remove this listing completely. --Alexander (talk) 13:50, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have no clue what's up with the building, if access is permanently blocked, or if it's indeed only temporary until it's renovated, that's wy I suggested removing it, but what you suggest makes sense, thanks! -- Christophe (talk) 16:30, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
