Best name

This is not just an historical region, no more than Scotland is. It is a very valid and contemporary visitor region and a very natural destination article like the Black Forest that I plan to greatly expand this Christmas when I visit a very old friend there. I hope you are managing to keep cool and comfortable in Karachi. Try and exercise a bit of patience or Ein bisschen Geduld, eh.

Please do not get confused like so many other people - the "other" article is about a small part of Western Bavaria - this article covers an area about 4 times larger in size and that crosses at least one administrative boundary. Try and think about the "historical" region of Kashmir, part of which is administered by India and part by Pakistan - but with the rather essential difference that it is bloody difficult for a visitor to travel that whole region.

Let things settle down a bit and wait and see if a consensus emerges at Talk:Germany#Consensus_impossible.2C_polling_should_begin and then it can be renamed to Schwaben, perhaps.--W. Frank^email_talk 19:46, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

The current name, with the quotation marks, seems absurd to me. If it had not already had this discussion page, I'd have thought it an obvious candidate for speedy deletion. Even with the discussion, I'm inclined to add a vfd tag.

I do not like Schwaben either, except perhaps as a redirect. This is English WV and should use the English name Swabia. However, that is ambiguous. Perhaps "Swabia (historical)" or "Swabia cultural region"? Pashley (talk) 14:04, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
