I was a math undergrad in Bangalore and am moving to Cambridge (England) as a grad student. I am originally from Bhubaneswar. Orissa is quite a charming place if visited at the right time, preferably in winter or spring. Do try and see the Bonda tribe, who were (are?) amongst the few people in the world that live naked and in contact with others (no pun intended). I spent my childhood in Gopalpur-on-sea, undoubtedly one of the best places for a quite walk by the sea and to see the awesome sunrise over the Bay of Bengal.

TRAVELS

I have traveled extensively in Orissa, my home state. Unfortunately, almost all the photos are not digital. Besides I have been to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Goa, Kodaikanal, Mysore, Hyderabad and obviously, Bangalore. I love visiting places early in the morning and high up on hills. If you are in Delhi, I earnestly recommend you visit Qutab Minar early at around 7 am, almost feels like you are in Lord of the Rings! Another super way of sightseeing is the Indian Railways, just stand by the door and enjoy the awesome scenery. You can try the Bhubaneswar to Mumbai Konark Express, which passes by Chilika Lake, the water of which at places touches the railway embankment, the stone fort of the Kakatiyas or some other dynasty near Warrangal, which is an awesome sight, the hill is completely bare, only this huge fort sitting on top, and then between Lonavla and Khandala, which is the best part, although the train passes through at night here, just stay awake and enjoy a surreal view of Mumbai lights from the hills above, stunning. Try some other train that passes through this region in daylight to see the numerous waterfalls and tunnels; in rainy season, small waterfalls fall onto the railway track!

Travel Plans

England, here I come! A visit to Gopalpur on sea to revisit my childhood and places nearby (once again no pun intended) . I will be sure to take photos this time. Maybe Tirupati and Mangalore too.

Travel Dreams

North Korea, Panmunjeom, the JSA from North and South ie, Kenya, Egypt, Eastern Europe, Mayan and Inca ruins in Latin America, Newfoundland, Stewart Island to see tuatara, Chatham Islands and my namesake, Isaan region in Thailand.
