Overview of tickets[edit]

The following list provides an overview of tickets being sold online, at a ticket machine or at the counter. Prices are for online purchase or as loaded on an anonymous or personal OV-chipkaart. For purchase at a ticket machine as a disposable ticket, add €1 per ticket. For purchase of tickets at the counter which are otherwise also available at the ticket machine, there is an additional surcharge.

Netherlands National Most trains (not  EUS ,  TLY ) Any specific day, from midnight to 4AM the next day. The 'raw' non-discounted one-way ticket valid on the chosen route, available through the NS-app, as a printed e-ticket, or from a ticket machine. The last of which has an additional €1 printing fee. This is also the price you pay when using an OV-Chipkaart or accepted (debit) card.
Day return

As the single ticket above, though as a two-way return journey. Its price is simply double the price of the ticket above.
Railrunner €2.50/child As above, for children aged 4-11, only if accompanied by an adult (18+). Children's ticket, valid for the entirety of the journey that the accompanying adult(s) make. At most three Railrunner tickets per adult. Kids younger than 4 years travel for free, provided that they do not occupy a seat themselves and sit in an accompanying adult's lap, for example.
Off-peak group ticket 2/3: €34
4-7: +€4 each
Outside of peak hours (weekdays 6:30-9:00, 16:00-18:30) A ticket for larger groups travelling by train. The main ticket holder (that purchased the ticket) should be present with the group at all times. The ticket may not be used during peak times, even if the trip started before peak hour, or on King’s Day (27 April).
Day ticket 2nd class: €58.80
1st class: €99,96
As single tickets. Unlimited nation-wide train travel. This ticket can be combined with subscriptions (listed below) when loaded onto an OV-chipkaart. The day ticket will be used on the day that you next use said OV-chipkaart.
Train + tram/bus Variable Specific destinations Most trains in combination with specific tram and/or bus lines. Made for tourists, the Train + tram/bus ticket allows for a connection to attractions in Bloemendaal, Arnhem, the Efteling, Eindhoven Airport, Scheveningen and more. Price depends on the connection you want. A full overview of which can be found in the webshop.
Holland Travel Ticket Off-peak: €48
Anytime: €70
Netherlands National Most trains, trams, bus, metro of all operators. Off-peak only and weekends or the entire weekday, depending on type. Another ticket type catered to tourists. Only available as a physical ticket at some train stations' ticket machines or service desks. Can be purchased online as a voucher, after which a pick-up is required. Not valid for Eurostar/Thalys, but valid for ICD/ICE if the supplement (see below) is purchased as well.

You may bring folded folding bicycles or a custom bike for a disabled person free of cost. At most one ticket (and thus one bike) per passenger.
Day ticket dogs €3.30 NS and Arriva trains Any time For dogs that cannot sit in your lap. Smaller pets that can sit in a basket or bag during travel can travel free of cost. Pets may not occupy a seat other than your own and pets are not permitted on train-replacement services. Recognisable guide or other assistance dogs are always allowed to travel free of cost.

SchipholRotterdam IC-Direct service Mandatory Obtainable as an e-ticket, from a ticket machine, service desk, or through an admission post on the platform. Not required for a Railrunner ticket or Kids Vrij subscription.

Amsterdam Greater Amsterdam GVB, Connexxion, EBS, NS Unlimited travel by bus, tram, train and metro throughout Amsterdam and nearby destinations such as Zandvoort, the Zaanse Schans, Muiden and the Keukenhof.
Off-peak day pass Fryslân €23.75 Groningen Friesland and Groningen Arriva-operated bus, train and Qliner Off-peak only Off-peak is classified as: After 9:00 (buses), 9:00-16:00 and 18:30-6:30 (train), weekends and national holidays (bus and train). Can be used in all types of Arriva-operated transport within the province of Friesland, excluding 'Opstapper'-services and on the North Frisian Islands. Only valid on the train services from Leeuwarden to Stavoren, Harlingen and Groningen.
Off-peak day pass Limburg €29.80 Limburg Limburg Arriva-operated bus and train Off-peak only At most two children between the ages of 4 and 11 can accompany you free-of-cost on this ticket. Valid as a day return on bus line 350, not valid on lines 44, 64 and SB3. Second class only. Not valid on night services.
Off-peak day pass North + Middle Limburg €23.80 Limburg Limburg Arriva-operated bus and train Off-peak only As above, only valid on the train stretch between Nijmegen and Roermond.

Gouwedal €4.70 South Holland South Holland R-Net-operated bus and train Off-peak only Can be purchased from ticket machines at stations in Alphen aan den Rijn, Boskoop, Waddinxveen and Gouda. Grants unlimited use of the railway between Alphen a/d Rijn and Gouda. Can be bought for first and second class, as well as in a bundle of five (€22.30 / €30.40), as a children's ticket (€1) and as a bicycle pass (€3.50).
