Welcome, and the Old Cities Question

[edit]

Hello, Daniel robinson! Welcome to Wikivoyage. First, I wanted to give you a proper welcome:

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you need help, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.

Second, to answer your question:

Thank you for your message. To really declare a "new consensus" you would need at least one other person to agree and then no one else to disagree. Ideally, you would gain the acceptance/support of contributors who were involved in the formation of the previous list of cities. If no one responds you might try leaving specific people (who have been involved in the discussion previously) a message on their talk pages asking them what they think. It can sometimes be hard to build a new consensus, especially for changes in content organization, so it could take a couple weeks, or it might not be possible. I personally don't have any real objections to your proposal, but will refrain from commenting until others who are more invested have done so.

Lastly, if the consensus-building proves frustrating, I hope you bounce back and turn your efforts to other sections of the siteno consensus is ever necessary to add travel information about your favorite places! Oh, and you can sign your posts by adding four tildes (~~~~). --(WT-en) Peter Talk 21:34, 1 November 2007 (EDT)

Thanks for your help and advice peter. I have taken on board your comments and have consequently re-worded my addition to the discussion in a way that better invites responses. I will leave it as that for a while, and if no replies appear, i'll msg some of the users, and take it from there.

thnx. dan

I think User:(WT-en) Evan reverted your original change, so I'd like to wait a bit to see if he comments. Otherwise I'll take a look at this sometime next weekI haven't read the original arguments, and I'm quite busy elsewhere! --(WT-en) Peter Talk 22:45, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
