Welcome and External links

Hi, I would like to add my welcome and we look forward to your help with Wikivoyage. I noticed you have added some external links and wanted to point out the external links policy. We really don't like to add a lot of external links as it does not match our goals and non-goals. We are more about having information in the guide and would prefer not to link outside the guide. The links you added to Cape Cod for the cities listed are what we consider "primary sources" and are normally added directly on the city page and not next to the link to that city, town or village. Also we link by putting single brackets around the url, like this: [http://www.city-link.org] and it shows like this: [1]. Don't be suprised if the links you added are deleted or changed. We do welcome you and apprecitate your efforts. You might want to some of the links you added on the primary page, if they don't already exist. Again, we do welocome you to Wikivoyage and appreciate your efforts. We all start out learning the new policy and how to do things. Hi and welcome from me, too. I reverted your edits on Cape Cod and wanted to explain why, but Tom beat me to it with what we call an "edit conflict". Tom owes me big time now :) Actually he explained it better than I, so I just want to say.... thanks for contributing and I hope to see more from you. You did have a good idea and the "history" tab for Cape Cod maintains the version you created. It would be useful if you moved the links to the town articles that don't have them. Hi again. Thanks for your edits on Shirley. A couple things to bear in mind while writing articles is that one of our goals is to be a printable guide and not just a web directory. That means that rather than just giving the URL, we need to give the info on the page as well. Also, just listing "Bull Run" just tells the traveller that there is such a thing, not where it is or why it's worth visiting. (WT-en) OldPine 15:47, 27 September 2006 (EDT)
