Hello GPSJane! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. (WT-en) AHeneen

Adding Pictures in an article[edit]

Hello, as you browse Wikivoyage, you will notice that almost all pictures are in boxes on the side...especially when it's at the top of an article (see Orlando, Chicago, Wilderness backpacking, & London just to show a few). There are a few different ways of doing this(I left off the double bracket on both sides to show you, otherwise the text would be a picture):

  • Image:Portstjohns.jpg|thumb|right (You can put "center" or "left" in place of "right", but most pictures are on the left)
  • Image:Portstjohns.jpg|thumb|right|250px (You can put put any number before px, but 200-300 is normal...this constricts the width of the picture by xxx pixels)
  • Image:Portstjohns.jpg|thumb|right|350px|Caption. (This is what's at right. The last section is the caption and can be whatever you choose)

Stick around and keep editing, we always appreciate new users! (WT-en) AHeneen 10:35, 5 December 2008 (EST)
